Villa Vitellino is situated among the gentle green hills of Umbria bordering Tuscany. Only a fifteen minute drive to Cortona, the area described in Frances Mayes' 'Under the Tuscan Sun'. The farmhouse, dating back to the 18th century, has been lovingly restored yet retains its original characteristics. Terracotta floors, exposed timber beams, hand painted tiles, antique furniture and comfortable beds are just some of the features appreciated by our guests.
The property is comprised of five tastefully furnished apartments of different sizes. Each has its own fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom, television, central heating and terrace. Some also have an open fireplace. The villa has a swimming pool with spa, gazebos and barbecue for dining 'al fresco', garden with play ground for children. The old farmhouse enjoys beautiful views of the surrounding Umbrian and Tuscan countryside including Lake Trasimeno. The property has a very cosy feel to it. It is located in a very convenient position for visiting beautiful, historical and artistic cities of Umbria and Tuscany like Cortona as well as Florence, Rome, Siena, San Gimignano, Assisi, Perugia, Pienza and Montepulciano.

The Umbria region
Italy is your paradise! Visit the beautiful medieval towns that surround Villa Vitellino; Città della Pieve (Perugino), Cortona, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Pienza, Perugia, Siena, Florence, Arezzo, Assisi (Giotto), Orvieto (ceramics), Spello (Pinturicchio) and Gubbio (ceramics and timber) to name a few. A must to visit is the flower decoration festival in Spello at the beginning of June.
Castiglione del Lago / Vitellino area
Castiglione del Lago is situated in the province of Perugia in Umbria on lake Trasimeno. This beautiful town is still surrounded by its ancient walls and retains a well preserved historic centre where you can spend a pleasant afternoon wandering around in the sunshine, visiting the various churches and the palazzo.
How to get there
Take the motorway 'Autostrada del Sole' A1, Firenze-Roma exit Valdichiana if driving from the North or exit Chiusi-Chianciano Terme if driving from the South.
If exiting Chiusi-Chianciano Terme: Exit motorway and turn right at the sign' Castiglione del Lago' and drive for around 20km. Just before the town 'Castiglione del Lago' there will be a round-about with the sign 'Gioiella'. Turn left and drive for around 1.5km. Do not turn off this road. Drive around another 100m AFTER Vitellino (and the bar) and turn left into the driveway of Villa Vitellino number 72. There is a huge pine tree opposite.
If exiting Valdichiana: Turn right twice and follow the signs for Perugia.The road will lead you onto a highway and drive for around 25km then take the exit 'Castiglione del Lago' and turn left, (ss.71).Drive for another 13km and go PAST the town Castiglione del Lago and the shopping centre 'COOP' (on your left) and then turn right at the round-about where there is a sign for 'Gioiella'. Drive for around 1.5km. Do not turn off this road. Drive another 100m AFTER Vitellino (and the bar) and turn left into the driveway of Villa Vitellino, number 72. There is a huge pine tree opposite.
By Train:
Milan-Rome-Florence line: Get off at one of three stations, Chiusi-Chianciano Terme or Terontola or Castiglione del Lago. Connections by bus or taxi to the surrounding towns.
