The location of this old, very carefully renovated farmhouse is unique: situated on the Tuscan / Umbrian border near the small village of Porto on a hill on the banks of Lago di Chiusi. Il Poggio is surrounded by nature, tranquillity and the marvellous view of Lago di Chuisi.
A short distance from the house you can walk along the edge of the lake, use one of the bicycles or simply enjoy the beauty of nature from the panoramic view from the pool (7 x 14 m) and terrace
All of apartments have been decorated in the enchanting, classical Tuscan country house style. Apartment Sopra has a huge living room fitted with a green velvet couch, fireplace, wicker furniture, sand-colour washed walls, and a large oval wooden table that can seat 10 people comfortably. From the windows at the glazed front door you look directly onto Lago di Chiusi. The bedroom walls have been colour washed in pink, blue terracotta and subtle green in the Italian tradition.
The rooms offer four-poster beds, linen curtains, hand-woven bedcovers, terracotta floors, high ceilings and exposed chestnut beams. The kitchen is excellently equipped with a dishwasher, oven, high-quality kitchenware, crockery and tableware. There is also a washing machine at your disposal. In the garden there is a covered terrace and individual private areas for all apartments.
Il Poggio is ideally located for visiting both Tuscany & Umbria such as Castiglione del Lago (home to Italy’s 4th Largest lake), Perugia, Assisi, Arezzo, Florence, Pisa, Rome and many others. Excellent train links make exploring both Tuscany and Umbria hassle free and inexpensive.

This secret Umbrian idyll is still very much unspoilt and offers excellent transport links to many of the delightful towns and Cities of the region. The location of Lago Trasimeno is excellent as surrounding area offers easy access to some of the most delightful places in Italy; Perugia (40 mins), Assisi (50 mins), Siena (1 hr), Arezzo (45 mins), Cortona (20 mins), Florence (1 Hr), Pisa (1 ¾ hrs) and Rome (2 ½ hrs).
Being large but shallow, Lake Trasimeno (at 128 square kilometres, the fourth largest lake in Italy) is a haven for a wide variety of birds and other wildlife. The lake is surrounded by a flat, alluvial plain, then a ring of gentle hills, where woodland alternatives with fields of sunflowers, maize, vineyards and olive groves. In fact, the economy of the area depends largely on agriculture, together with the local’s love of craftwork, notably the famous lace of Isola Maggiore, ceramics and articles in copper and wrought iron.

All holiday property prices are in € per week for the number of people stated in bold unless otherwise stated in € per day.
Accommodation weeks usually run from Saturday to Saturday and include linen, water, electricity, and gas unless otherwise stated. The heating costs and housekeeping fees are paid directly to the landlord and are dependent on usage please be aware heating costs are expensive in Italy. Almost all landlords require a security deposit between 100 € and 250 €. The full balance of the deposit will be returned at the end of stay provided that the property is in the same condition as when you arrived and there are no damaged/ broken items. All linens should be returned in the same number and conditions on departure if they are not the landlords have the right to keep the deposit at their discretion.
