Home description
The Vecchie Case is a beautifully restored old farm house that is made up of two apartments and would suit 2 large families. In total the property sleeps 22 persons.
Near the village of Pozzuolo, is Vecchie Case – “The old houses”. There are two apartments available to let in total that each cater for between 8-10 persons. This property is ideal for large families or small groups as the apartments can be let individually or the house can be let as a whole. The property has a brand new large pool which you will be glad of in the hot summer sun.
Both apartments have been skilfully restored. The antique terracotta floors and the chestnut beams have been magnificently preserved and are typical of the local area. The furnishings include wrought iron beds and antique chests of draws (see picture).
All of the rooms are very bright and are decorated with classical pictures and wrought iron lamps. The house is surrounded by fields and wooded areas and in the distance is a magnificent view of Lake Trasimeno which is Italy 4th largest lake.
Around the house there is plenty of room and a large meadow with several olive trees that provide much needed shade from the hot summer sun. Each apartment has its own private space in the garden with tables, chairs and umbrellas.
In the local village of Pozzuolo, you will find a bank, pharmacy, boutiques, a small supermarket, a butcher, a petrol station and more.
There are small fish-filled ponds and a swing for young children. Luigi, the owner, is particularly proud of his pomegranate grappa, which you should surely try. It’s not far to the shops or the beaches of Lake Trasimeno near Castiglione del Lago
The house is wonderfully located for visiting Perugia, Cortona, Siena, Florence, Assisi, Arezzo, Pisa, Rome, Castiglione del Lago and many more.

The Umbria region
This secret Umbrian idyll is still very much unspoilt and offers excellent transport links to many of the delightful towns and Cities of the region. The location of Lago Trasimeno is excellent as surrounding area offers easy access to some of the most delightful places in Italy; Perugia (40 mins), Assisi (50 mins), Siena (1 hr), Arezzo (45 mins), Cortona (20 mins), Florence (1 Hr), Pisa (1 ¾ hrs) and Rome (2 ½ hrs).
Being large but shallow, Lake Trasimeno (at 128 square kilometres, the fourth largest lake in Italy) is a haven for a wide variety of birds and other wildlife. The lake is surrounded by a flat, alluvial plain, then a ring of gentle hills, where woodland alternatives with fields of sunflowers, maize, vineyards and olive groves. In fact, the economy of the area depends largely on agriculture, together with the local’s love of craftwork, notably the famous lace of Isola Maggiore, ceramics and articles in copper and wrought iron.
Castiglione del Lago / Pozzuolo area
The Trasimeno area is part of Umbria, but culturally and geographically it straddles both Umbria and Southern Tuscany. It contains features of both, being an area where the borders between the two regions is intriguingly blurred, in a language and landscape as well as in the flavours of its cuisine and its traditions. Umbria is located in the exact centre of Italy, at a point which since ancient times has been a meeting point for routes for travellers from central Italy and northern Europe heading for Rome.
The area is not a busy transit area, however but the kind of place that people stumble upon by chance, then visit regularly. There is no need to stumble across it, though, as now you have your chance to discover this magical region.
