Villa Eloisa is a villa which is about 250 square meters (about 2,691 square

feet) large. It is located in the countryside. It has a swimming pool and it is

surrounded by a 3000-square-meter (about 32,291 square feet) garden with olive

trees. The villa sleeps 12 people. It is 8 km (about 5 miles) away from

Castiglione del Lago (Lake Trasimeno). It is equipped with winter heating and

parking space.

Villa Eloisa has five bedrooms: four are double bedrooms and one is a twin

bedroom. One living-room has a double divan bed and a second large living-room

has a kitchenette. The villa also has three bathrooms and an annex with a

living-room, a fireplace, and a kitchenette.

The place

Villa Eloisa is situated in a peaceful countryside of hills on the border of

Tuscan and Umbria, halfway between the lake of Chiusi and the Lake Trasimeno (about

8 km away / about 5 miles away). In the surroundings you will see only two or

three other countryside houses, and then a multitude of low hills here and there

which are ploughed by vineyards, green for the harvest of wheat, or resplendent

for the golden-yellow sun-flower cultivations.

The garden and the swimming pool

The garden of Villa Eloisa is completely fenced. Once through a beautiful

wrought-iron gate, a driveway framed by high trees leads you to the house. Near

the house you will find a large patio beautifully adorned with several vases

rich in cranesbills, jars, and statues. You will find tables and chairs, and an

area equipped with a wood-fed oven and a barbecue.

The rest of the land is covered by a large green lawn area where young olive and

fruit trees are planted in regular distance one from the other.

Your kids will have lots of space to play outdoors.

On the back of the house you will find a large terrace with terracotta floor

where you will be able to sunbathe. Here is the above-ground swimming-pool,

whose surface of water meets the level of the floor, enabling one to easily get

in and out of the pool. The swimming pool measures 10 x 4.5 meters (about 33 x

15 feet). The terrace is furnished with umbrellas and deck chairs.

The house

Villa Eloisa's interiors preserve the beautiful Nineteenth-century countryside

house structure.

You enter the house either through the main entrance or the patio door which

connects the living-room and the garden.

On the ground floor, you will find the entrance with the staircase leading to

the upper floor. On the left of such entrance, there is a large living-room

divided in two by a big arch in terracotta bricks. In one part there is a large

fireplace with a kitchenette next to it and a dining-table. In the other part,

there are couches and armchairs. On the right to the entrance, there is another

small living-room furnished with a double divan bed, what actually makes it an

additional bedroom. On this floor there is also a small bathroom with a toilet

seat and a shower. The kitchenette is equipped with a four-burner-stove, a

fridge, and an oven.

A staircase neatly decorated with paintings and antique objects lead to the

first floor, where you will find three double bedrooms and a twin bedroom. They

are all spacious and bright, and they have windows overlooking the hills. They

are furnished with pieces of furniture which date back to the period when the

house was built and to the nineteenth century; all nicely restored.

On the first floor you will find a spacious bathroom with bathtub. Another large

bathroom is found once you climb a flight of stairs. In this bathroom, you will

find a Jacuzzi, two sinks, and a separate shower. Next to this bathroom there is a bedroom with a double bed and a very nice view of the surrounding area. The bedroom has a sloping ceiling.

The villa is completely furnished and decorated with care, having even with

small collections of antique objects. The atmosphere around will make you feel

as a dear guest in a friend's family old house...

Next to the main house you will find an annex furnished as a large living-room.

It is a one-storey building with roof of bricks and wood joists. There is a

large patio door which leads to the patio and several bright windows which look

out on the garden. Its interior features a large fireplace, a kitchenette with a

four-burner stove, a fridge, a freezer, two long dining-tables, and some wicker

armchairs. Furnishings are comfortable, the decoration is perfect and inspired

in the countryside: it will be your favorite place to organize big meals with

your friends!

At Villa Eloisa you will be able to ask for additional cleaning services and a

chef. Your pets will be welcomed as well.

The Umbria region

Umbria, located in the middle of the Italian peninsula, above Latium (the region of Rome) and next to Tuscany, is the only region of Italy that does not have access to the Mediterranean. Despite this, it possesses, as you might have already heard, a "vocation for beauty".

The region is well known for its picturesque settings, the lightness and purity of the air, the presence of thermal and mineral water springs, the lakes and rivers and the spectacular waterfalls. Here life flows slowly, and people like to cling to their ancient traditions, keeping them alive through history.

Umbria is a region of mountains, hills and valleys. It is crossed by the Appenines mountains, which often slope down into gentle hills and allow for charming valleys crossed by rivers, such as the Tiber valley (the Tiber will eventually reach Rome) and the Nera valley, through which the Chiascio and Topino Rivera flow. In such a varied landscape expect to find the largest waterfall of Italy, Le Marmore, as well as lakes of volcanic origin, such as Lake Trasimeno and Lake Piediluco.

Umbria is also a region of small medieval town and villages, artistic gems which have maintained their original aspect and are at a short distance from one another. They all preserve noteworthy works of art, in the churches, in the art galleries and in the characteristic squares. The mystery of the Etruscan stones, the boldness of the Roman works, the pureness of the Christian architecture and the mildness of the Renaissance paintings are all to be found within the borders of Umbria. Those who have browsed a tourist guide will recognize the names of Perugia, Gubbio, Spoleto, Todi, Orvieto, Assisi, Spello, Trevi, Cascia, Norcia -- a few of the most notable towns of Umbria.

And when it is time to sit at the table, in Umbria you will find a solid culinary tradition, simple yet tasty, based on what the land has to offer: olive oil, hog, lamb, durham wheat pasta of the best quality and the colombaccio, the wood-pigeon that Umbrians love. The gourmets will also be able to feast on the black truffle of the Norcia region, exported from Umbria all over the world.

Castiglione del Lago is an incomparably delightful village located on a chalky promontory overlooking Lake Trasimeno with all the impressiveness of its castle, “Rocca del Leone”.

The village has very ancient Etruscan and Roman origins (the area was already inhabited when the promontory still was one of the four isles of Lake Trasimeno).

Castiglione del Lago has kept throughout the centuries a particular charm, thanks to the beauty of the old town centre, which is still ringed within medieval walls, with an outstanding view of Lake Trasimeno and Valdichiana, towards Cortona.

The old side of the town offers two splendid architectural examples, as bulwarks of its glorious origins: the magnificent Palazzo della Corgna and Rocca del Leone.

Provided with well-equipped beaches, camping and very good restaurants, Castiglione del Lago, along with Passignano, is a landmark for those who want to fully enjoy a relaxing vacation on Lake Trasimeno.

You can also find there an extremely efficient ferries service to the isles, a sailing club working all over the year, and a nice cycle track.

Good to know. the Italian Kite Association every year organizes a festival called “Coloriamo I Cieli” (Let's paint the sky). It is one of the most important kite and hot air balloon festivals organized during springtime, which attracts thousands of people from everywhere in the world.
