About this location

The Tuscany region

Nothing can be said about Tuscany that has not been said better elsewhere.

The city of Arezzo is a hidden gem. Arezzo was born as a pre-Etruscan city, dating from the Paleolithic era. The Etruscan town of Arretium was built on top of the hill of San Donato sometime in the 9th century BC.

Each month there is a huge antique market in the streets of Arezzo (the first Sunday of the month and the preceeding Saturday)

Castiglion Fiorentino

Castiglion Fiorentino is surrounded by picturesque hill towns (including Cortona), each designed to be one day's walk apart (in medieval times it was important to be behind stone walls at sundown).

In June, Castiglion has a palio (similar to the one in Siena, but on a smaller scale). The week preceeding is filled with festivities, culminating with an alfresco dinner held in the streets of the town!

Florence is easily accessible via a one hour train ride, as is Assisi (in Umbria) in the other direction.

"Charming, comfortable country villa, conveniently located."

Charming villa, comfortably accommodates 12 adults. Can be divided into 3 separate 2-bedroom apartments, each with its own kitchen/dining/bath and living area, or rented as one for use by a group.

Centrally located in the heart of Tuscany, between Cortona and Arezzo. Easy day trips to surrounding small and large towns. The Villa is in the center of its own orchard and grape vines, with lovely outside dining/gathering spaces, and a swimming pool.

The owner, Harriet Sculley, provided directions to local and area restaurants and sites of interest. Also guided us to a couple of terrific cooking classes.

"Beautiful site"

This is a lovely villa located in the Tuscan country side outside Castiglione Fiorentino. The views of Cortona and castle Montechio lit up by the setting sun are marvelous. The gardens include a vin… More

"It was experience beyond my expectations!"

The property was very comfortable. You definitely need a car, but the owners know the man who owns the local car rental agency & he will even pick you up at the train station in Castiglion Fiorentino. Many Hill Towns are an easy drive. The food is delicious. The wine fabulous. The grocery stores have everything you need & more. And the prices are reasonable. I will make a return trip asap. It was a great experience.

"Beautiful, authentic, gracious villa in the Tuscan countryside."

Beyond our expectations, from the lovely furnishings with well stocked kitchens (even an espresso machine) to the swimming pool and ping pong table. Bring a car, and use the owners deep understanding of the local culture to enjoy the region to its fullest. I will never forget the cooking class at Avignonesi Winery.

"Wonderful villa in beautiful Tuscany setting - a great stay with friends"

I stayed here for 2 weeks with a group of friends. It was such a warm and comfortable "home base" for us. Every morning, I walked the countryside past olive orchards and fields of sunflowers, grapes, country homes. Beautiful! The villa itself is a restored farmhouse, and comfortable for all 6 couples. My husband and I had an upstairs bedroom and our own kitchen and living area where we could have quiet time or work (great wi-fi!), and could also join the entire group downstairs where there is a huge kitchen and open living room - great for social time and shared dinners in the evening. The villa also has a beautiful swimming pool, which was very well maintained and clean (and gated). The towns near the villa are charming and we filled every day with new outings, coming home to our "home away from home" in the evening. A very special place!
