Home description
The ground floor of the property is extremely spacious. It offers a secluded sitting room with a wood burning stove and big sofas, perfect for reading quietly or playing family games in the evening. This leads through to a dining room with a long family table which in turn opens onto a large, open plan family living room and a fully equipped kitchen with gas cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine. There are plenty of fitted kitchen cupboards for storage and a breakfast bar for sitting at and chatting to the cook!
Leading off the family room is a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom (bath, wc and basin) and views across the countryside. There is also another large shower, basin and toilet.
There are 2 spacious bedrooms on the first floor, one with a double bed and the other has 2 singles. Both rooms have wonderful views across the countryside and vaulted ceilings with exposed beams. There is also a family bathroom equipped with bath, wc, bidet and basin.

This beautiful and as yet hardly discovered area of south-west France is steeped in history and offers a quiet relaxing holiday for those interested in wonderful scenery, unspoiled French charm and excellent markets, food and drink. The area enjoys long hot summers and short mild winters and makes it a great place for holiday makers
Castenet area
Pech Gary Bas is close to the nearby villages of Monteils and Parisot which both have bakeries, small grocery shops and, very importantly, good family-run restaurants! 20 minutes away the bustling market town of Villefranche de Rouergue offers good shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. The airports of Rodez and Toulouse make Pech Gary Bas an easily accessible holiday destination. Nearby are Medieval villages, Bastide towns, Chateaux, Abbeys, Churches and magnificent natural sites of outstanding beauty; whether it be wooded valleys or the meandering River Aveyron with its dramatic gorges.
Within easy driving distance there are a large number of restaurants to cater for all budgets. Supermarkets are nearby to meet all your in-house catering needs .
ACTIVITIES Horse riding, canoeing, fishing, rail trips, rock climbing, wine tasting, museums, pot-holing, tennis and of course walking. Golf is available at Albi (18-hole delightful course; approximately 40 minutes by car), where there is also a water-park for children. An afternoon's excursion by canoe through the Aveyron Gorge is considered a 'must' by nearly all guests.
A number of local villages and towns have interesting and colourful markets. (NB: Be sure not to miss the local market in St Antonin and Villefrance .
EXCURSIONS BY CAR Within short driving distances, excursions can also be made to a number of fascinating towns and villages including Cordes, Albi, Najac, Cahors, Penne and Bruniquel, all of which are well worth a visit. For longer trips you have Carcassone , 2 hrs and the coast 2 1/2 hrs

Further details outdoors: Outside, the shaped swimming pool with Roman steps is built into the hillside and has wonderful views to enjoy as you leisurely swim up and down. There are plenty of loungers and parasols on the terrace around the pool in this peaceful and secluded haven. The pool is fully fenced for safety in accordance with strict French laws and has a constant depth of 1.3m, making it perfect for children and adults alike.
The gardens around the house are landscaped and there is a delightful sun-trap terrace in front of the house with table and chairs which is perfect for relaxing or eating al fresco.
With many trees in the grounds, there are lots of shady spots for guests to sit and enjoy a good book. The extensive grounds and surrounding countryside offer plenty of walks and nature lovers will be amazed by the varieties of wild flowers, butterflies and birds which fill this unspoilt corner of France.
The house is great for children. The owners have 2 children who delight in being able to play safely in the fields and woods around the house, untroubled by traffic.
