The Marche / Abruzzo / Marche region
The villa sits on the edge of the hilltop village of Castelplanio in the Verdicchio wine region of Le Marche. This central region of Italy boasts golden beaches, snow-clad peaks, gentle hills and enchanting towns; a stunning landscape that, together with the warmth and friendliness of the local people, and wonderful food and wine, make Le Marche a region to enjoy year after year.
Le Marche is also well known throughout Italy as the 'capital' of shoes and handbags - so there are many opportunities of finding great bargains at the many factory shops.
Castelplanio area
Castelplanio and the surrounding villages each host their own festivals throughout the summer so there is always lots do do closeby, along with joining in the italian custom of passaggiata each evening.
If you can tear the children away from the swimming pool there is an amazing water park within 20 mins drive or visit one of the many blue-flag beaches along the Adriatic coast. Places of interest to visit are in abundance such as Urbino, Loreto and Assisi (all within an hour or so drive) or, closer to the villa, the Frasassi Caves, only a 20min drive away.
How to get there
Ryanair fly into Ancona daily from Stansted. There are several other possibilities ranging from between 1 and 2 hours drive from the villa: Rimini (Easyjet/ Ryanair) Forli (Ryanair), Bologna (BA/Ryanair), Perugia (Ryanair) and Rome is 3 hours away by either car or train.

Or try your hand at authentic pizza making by using the fully restored pizza oven. If that all sounds too much like hard work, take a trip to the local pizza restaurant only 5 minutes walk away, or try any of the numerous superb restaurants within a short drive of the villa.
Sleeping 4 Beautifully appointed bedrooms all with en-suite bathrooms:
Bedroom 1 with queen-sized bed and en-suite with bath & shower Bedroom 2 with double bed and en-suite with shower Bedroom 3 with double bed , cot bed and en-suite with shower Bedroom 4 with twin beds and en-suite with shower
All rooms have comfortable beds with Egyptian cotton sheets and feather pillows. A cot is also available on request.
Lounging The deep leather sofas and open fire make ‘lounging’ a compulsory in the spacious lounge. French doors at each end allow the breeze to waft through on those warm summer evenings and under-floor heating keeps you warm during non-summer rentals.
Enjoy the superb views from either a sun lounger around the pool or from one of the other outside seated areas.
Playing The 14m x 5m swimming pool, set in a wonderful southern position, allows maximum playing from morning until evening. A pergola allows shade for when you have had enough of the sun. A games area has a football table, pool and snooker table or enjoy a game of badminton on the garden courtyard. TV, CD, DVD, library and film library is also available in the villa, together with a selection of games.
Further details outdoors: Site seeing: The thriving and elegant town of Jesi is the nearest main town to Castelplanio. It has a lively cultural life, a good civic art gallery and many architectural beauties to endear you. It also boasts a prestigious autumn Opera Season ‘Pergolesi’, named after the famous composer. Other must-sees include Urbino (42miles), a jewel of a renaissance city with art collections to rival that of Uffizi in Florence, Frasassi Caves (10miles), some of the most spectacular limestone caves that you are ever likely to visit, and Cingoli (20miles), called the balcony of Le Marche by virtue of the superb panoramic views of the region that it offers.
Walking: This region has an abundance of good walks catering from the more serious walker, to the leisurely stroller – with even an excellent walk starting right from the villa itself!
Shopping: Discount designer shopping is one of the most popular pastimes of stylish Italians, and it can be yours too. Pick up a bargain at the Prada, Armani or Tods factory stores, to name but a few. All are within a short drive away.
Activities: Take advantage of this wonderful wine region by enjoying a tour of the many local vineyards (our favourite is the renowned ‘Montecappone’ vineyard – a small, family-run business, yet it has made its mark on the world wine stage), all tours include ‘tasting session’. Tennis is available locally and golf is approx. 30mins drive away.
Beaches: Le Marche lies on the eastern side of central Italy, with fabulous blue-flag beaches running along the clear Adriatric Sea. In true Italian style, take a sun-lounger for the day at nearby Senigallia, or a bit further afield at Numana or Sirolo.
