Home description

Come and discover La Piege, a micro-region in the Lauragais, in the department of the Aude, one of the last almost unchanged and until recently undiscovered corners of France. It is tucked away between the Canal du Midi, and the Pyrénéan Mountain range. Enjoy the tranquil pace of life, play pétanque in the sleepy villages nestled in the gently undulating landscape and search out small restaurants with their superb local cuisine; explore the Montagnes Noires and the foothills of the Pyrénées with their breathtaking panoramas and find the many medieval and Cathar castles and towns with their varied, exciting and often bloodied histories; all this set against the dramatic backdrop of the Pyrénéan mountains.

La borde with its two family run gites, is perched on a little promontory on the edge of the pretty village of Peyrefitte sur l'Hers. With our large pool, games room, bar and boule area you can always find some thing to do, or just relax and read, and enjoy the quiet coutryside. Barbecues are supplied and with lots of space you can chose were to eat and cook. When you arrive you are greated by a welcome pack which includes local produce, some cold beer, a chilled bottle of rosé and a local red, so you can start your holiday as soon as you have parked your car.
We have five very friendley donkeys, who love polos, dried bread, and taking our younger guests for a ride, our free range chickens provide fresh eggs and in the summer our vegtable garden supplies tomatoes, salads etc..
Lots of fruit trees for home made jam

This part of the Languedoc has a sunny, Mediterranean climate. It can be hot in summer, but the temperature is often tempered by an agreable breeze.

NEW THIS YEAR, working bread oven to cook pizas bread etc... and the pool area has been inlarged to include a large grassed area with trees for shade, this will give lots more room around the pool.
