The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

The Lot et Garonne offers unlimited scope for visitors. It is full of historical and architectural interest. You can visit the many bastide towns with their weekly markets selling locally grown or reared produce. During the summer many of the villages, Fongrave included, hold an evening market. Many holiday makers and locals gather in the villages to enjoy an evening of delicious food and music which is surely not to missed.

The area is also ideal for walking or cycling, the Chateau is positioned on a cycle path. There are a number of bikes available at the Chateau for guests to use.

A farm shop is located just a 2 min walk from the chateau where you can buy locally grown salad, vegetables and free range chickens. The farmers wife also makes ice cream and apple pies which are truly wonderful.

There is a small family run restaurant in Fongrave, just a 5 min walk away.

Castelmoron sur Lot

Fongrave is a very friendly village with a bar/ shop and restaurant. There is also a post office, a church with a magnificent carved wooden altar and a pretty chapel.

The Chateau has direct access to the River which as well as being picturesque is ideal area for fishing ( fishing licenses can be obtained from the village shop).

During the months of July and August evening markets are held by the river, and food, wine and live entertainment is available.

The village is on a cycle route and there are a number of bicycles at the Chateau for guests to use.
