There's something for everyone in the beautiful Lot et Garonne. From Bastide towns to beaches; Chateaux to caves; vineyards to golfing; markets to horseriding; childrens farms to theme parks; boating to many other watersports; ballooning to microlite flying. Long hot summers enable you to enjoy the activities and savour the beautiful rolling countryside dotted with farms ,vineyards and of course orchards full of all kinds of fruit from peaches to figs.Food is so important in this region of France and there's a wide choice of quality restaurants ranging from rustic Pizzeria to gastronomic Michelin stars. Local French attractions include: Magic Cauldron where children can feed the animals;Parc Walibi with rides and roller coasters for all the family plus live shows including Sea Lion;Parc en Ciel offers a challenging activity using Tyrolean cables suspended in the forest which allow people to walk in the tree canopy - this parc also has animals and a picnic area opposite the crazy golf; caves; 3 golf courses; Atlantic coast at Arcachon near Bordeaux less than 2 hours; 4 supermarkets within 15 min drive. Local villages offer a range of grocery shops, boulangerie and markets. Evening markets with entertainment and food in the summer. Wine is an important part of regional culture and there are plenty of vineyards offering tasting/visits before you buy. Many towns and villages to visit including Agen,Bergerac, penne d'agenais, monflanquin, etc.
The Castelmoron sur Lot area
Enjoy a great family holiday in our lovely accommodation situated in fantastic French countryside within easy reach of all the popular tourist attractions. The barn is situated 3 minutes from Le Temple Sur Lot, a sleepy village between Villeneuve sur lot and Castelmoron. The village has a grocery shop with small cafe attached, organic grocery store & boulangerie, traditional boulangerie, hairdressers, two restaurants, fruit farm shop , cheese farm shop ,riverside walks and an organic / farmers market on a sunday morning. The national water lily museum is located here too and has a lovely restaurant / cafe in the grounds. For the more adventurous - the ULM base with Microlite & fixed wing aircraft hire / tuition is situated at the edge of the village. Castelmoron is five minutes away and has a bigger choice of shops including a pharmacy and another restaurant with terrace. It also has a riverside beach, river swimming, boat hire and fishing. In july and august the local villages come alive to the sound of live music, with fantastic night markets which are well worth a visit. Here you can relax and enjoy the local food and wine, listen to the music and dance the night away. They are popular with holiday makers and locals alike. Although we are situated in peacefull valley ,10 minutes away you will find a range of very well stocked Supermarkets with fresh fish / butchers & deli counters. With so much to do, 2 weeks really isn't long enough to do everything and many of our guests return again and again.

This excellent roomy and spacious accommodation was well sheltered and was the home of 3 generations for 2 weeks in a hot August. The buildings are well shaded, and the patios and dining areas, of which there are 3, are well protected from direct sunlight. Everything is provided on the domestic front. There are plenty of extras provided to keep the children happy. The property is about 2 miles from the nearest small town, easily bikeable with the bikes provided, so it is peaceful yet close to normal facilities. The on site swimming pool was well used as was the english TV (it was Olympic time). Normal facilities, such as supermarkets, shops, and activities for children are within easy reach. |

We stayed in July 2012 in the typical french farmhouse with all the luxery, sport equipment, toys for the children inclusive the footballtable and snookertable. Very nice swimmingpool with full day sunshine. Ideal location for exploring the region with very nice nightmarkets were you can enjoy the local food. Nearby big supermarket. The house was very clean and the area around the house was also very well kepped. We missed nothing in the place, we were more surprised about everything there was. The house is located at the end of a dead ending small way, so quit and with an astonishing view. We woul like to thank the owners for their hospitality. Dutch family. |
