About the home

The house forms part of the oldest wing of Le Bagnaie, a 300 year old farm on a secluded hilltop, which was converted into 8 privately owned houses in 1990. All are beautifully restored in traditional rustic style, with exposed beams, old terracotta floors and open fires, together with the modern convenience of superb marble bathrooms and central heating. Each house has its own paved terrace, garden and the shared facility of beautiful grounds, including a magnificent swimming pool, a children's pool and an all-weather tennis court. There are outstanding views of the surrounding countryside.

There is a large sitting room with fireplace and a door opening onto the terrace and garden, where there is also a stone built barbecue. An archway with double doors leads through to the fully equipped kitchen/dining room with elegant marble worktops, and a back door leads from here into a small courtyard.

On the first floor is a cool lofty double bedroom with bathroom en suite, a twin bedroom and a magnificent marbled bathroom with separate shower. Private stairs lead from the landing up to the second floor twin bedroom with panoramic views all round and a small en suite shower room with W.C.

The house is traditionally furnished and is equipped to a high standard.

Large private garden with two terraces and table and chairs for outside eating. Sunloungers also in private garden. Magnificent, large, heated communal pool (20m x 10m) with stunning views and baby pool for playing and paddling. Beautiful communal garden areas including vegetable plot. Shared tennis court and boules court.

Chianti is in the heart of Tuscany.

The Castellina in Chianti area

Le Bagnaie is situated in the heart of Chianti, Tuscany. It is a 10 minute drive from Castellina in Chianti, a beautiful, typical Tuscan village with an abundance of character and amenities.

The house is very conveniently located for Siena and the world famous Palio (15 minute drive), San Gimigniano (30 minutes), Florence (40 minutes), Radda, Gaiole in Chianti, Volterra and many other picturesque Tuscan places to visit.

There are numerous wonderful traditional Tuscan restaurants in all the surrounding areas such as Castellina in Chianti, Siena, San Gimigniano, Colle Val D'Elsa, Volterra, Gaiole in Chianti, Radda in Chianti. The closest restaurant to Le Bagnaie is about a 5 minute drive. Cooks can be organised to come to the house and cook a traditional Italian menu.

There are superb walks all around and several start from the house.

It is a very popular area for mountain biking and these can be hired in nearby towns.

The area is very child friendly and there are many local playgrounds.

Shopping is in abundance particularly in Siena (15 mins) and Florence (40 mins). Food shopping is also readily available - 7 days a week about a 10 minute drive from the house.

Being in the heart of Chianti, vineyards are very accessible and offer many wonderful wines and olive oils to taste. There are several vineyards and olive groves within a 5 minute drive.

“An excellent slice of Tuscan beauty” The week spent at Casa del Fico was most delightful. A perfect location atop a hill with 360 degree views of Tuscany reminiscent of any da Vinci painting. Ideally located to either explore the local region or just relax in idyllic surroundings with a glass of chianti Classico. Definitely to be recommended to those who wish to get away from it all and experience Italy's finest region.
