Our trulli is located about 1.5 kilometres from the town of Castellana where the famous grotto is located. Renowned the world over for its formations of stalagmites and stalactites. The trulli is set in a large remote controlled gated garden planted mainly with olive, almond, cherry and other fruit trees. The roof has been lovingly restored and a new wooden gazebo erected outside for dining out of the hot sun. Two long tables and chairs are provided along with sun loungers for outside use.
Please note this is a large pool with a deep end of 12 foot depth .
We have a separate annex to the property which is our sleeping accommodation during your stay but do respect your privacy during your stay.

The region of Puglia is to be found in the south east of Italy,it stretches its self between the Adriatic and the Ionion seas forming the heel of the Italian boot. There is approx 500 km of coastline with a diversity to suit everyone from the rocky coves and caves of Polignano a mare down to the long sandy beaches of Torre Canne a big family beach to deserted sandy coves, private lidos and the truly wonderful nature reserve of Torre Guaceto.
The landscape is one of undulating hills and wide open spaces punctuated with white towns and villages. The trullo with its conical roofs is only to be found in Puglia, the capital of the trullo is Alberobello, 15 minutes from Castellana.
Puglia renowned for the kind southern character, the natural openness of the people, a truly wonderful cuisine and exquisite wines, a rich red soil vast olive groves with trees carved by nature,vinyards almond groves and fruit orchards in abundance. Rich in cultural heritage with historical and religious festivals throughout the year. Architecture spanning baroque byzantine and romanic an eclectic mix giving an insight to modern day Puglia.
The Castellana Grotte area
Castellana is a small town with plenty of shops to browse the town square is the focol part of the town in the evening where you can see the Italians taking there pasagata (evening walks) around the square. There are many restaurants where the food is excellent and at a fair price. Take a tour of the grotto and see the magnificent white grotto then tour the surrounding shops.
Within easy access are Polignano a mar the town is built on top of cliffs and has very good fish restaurants.
monopoly this is a fishing port and you can watch the fishermen tending their boats and nets. Capitolo this is a very popular seaside town with both sandy and rocky coves. Locorotondo set high on a hill with stunning views over the valle d itria, famous forts white wine, visit the Cantina Sociale. Martina Franca an elegant town with wonderful baroque architecture, very good shopping. Ostuni the white city perched on a hill with views over the sea
Bari is a vibrant city with excellent shopping,a sea port with a maritime history. The patron saint is St Nicholas (father christmas) whose ashes were stolen by bari sailers in io87 from asia minor, still remain in bari.
zoosafari a them park zoo and theatre a great day out for all with a drive on safari. Alberobello is the capital of the trullo area and has excellent restaurants and bars. There are two major festivals in Alberobello, the folklore festival the first week in august. An international dance festival. The religious festival of St Cosimo and Damiano 27th & 28th of September with street markets, bands, processions and a firework display.

Flights to Bari or Brindisi with ryan air from London stansted, British Airways from London Gatwick and alitalia also fly into Bari. Bari airport is about 45minutes drive to castellana, brindisi about one hour.
