The Puglia region

Puglia is often called the "Garden of Italy" or the "Bread basket of Italy" as the region produces much of the Olive Oil and wheat used in the country. Puglia is also now becoming recognised as a producer of fine wines. It has the longest coastline in Italy and is blessed with over 300 days of sunshine each year, giving the tourist season that little bit extra.

Castellana Grotte

Castellana Grotte is famous for its Caves. This spectacular network of caves with Stalagmites and Stalatites have been carved out by underground streams over many centuries. Castellana Grotte is also a buzzing little country town andbecause the caves are on the edge of town it means that in high season it is not packed with day trippers.

The UNESCO World Heritage town of Alberobello is the next town along and is famous for the Trulli that are unique to Puglia and can be seen dotted around the coutryside. There are a number of noted towns in the region all worth visiting for their beautiful Historic centres and these are Locorotondo. Martina Franca, Cisternino and Ostuni.

"AMAZING!!! Beyond our expectations, so relaxing, very unique property, we would HIGHLY recommend staying at this magical"

My husband and I wanted a quiet, relaxing, peaceful weeks holiday and decided that Puglia and this specific property looked like it ticked all the boxes for us! The location is absolutely gorgeous, very peacefully located amongst acres and acres of beautiful Italian olive groves and beautiful vineyards!! The property itself was just magical! A very tastefully, and sensitively restored 400 year old chapel with all the modern conveniences you could want for! With more than enough space for the 2 of us, the outdoor space was perfect for relaxing poolside and BBQ's. The very quaint village of Castellana Grotte was just adorable with wonderful restaurants, "Osteria Caroseno" being our very favorite, not to be missed, probably one of the very best meals we've had in Italy!! The local cafes as well as the fabulous Saturday market in Castellana Grotte which we had great fun mingling with all the super friendly, truly hospitable locals! This is a VERY authentic, non-touristy area of Italy which was exactly what we were seeking!! We would highly recommend a day trip to the UNESCO village of Alborabello with it's adorable Trulli's, we would also recommend a day trip to Ostuni and a day trip to Monopoli, both very different towns but wonderful to explore. Ostuni has fabulous views that sweep across the landscape with the sea on the horizon and is a beautiful city that crowns the mountain tops with its mesmerizing whitewashed, ancient buildings! Monopoli is an ancient town that sits on the sea and has wonderful restaurants, cafes and shops to wander about, down twisting, narrow alley ways! The weather at this time of the year as well as the quiet (but not too quiet) season was also just perfect!! We LOVE Italy and this particular region is really, really unspoiled and very special!! We wish you a wonderful holiday in this spectacular property!!!

Thank you for your wonderful review, we are so happy you had a wonderful at La Torre
