The Sicily region

Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and it’s a popular travel destination with a volcano, beaches, mountains, and centuries of history and tradition.

The island is a year round destination. The long summer season will be ideal for beach lovers while Spring and Autumn season are the perfect time for mountain excursions, walks or cycling trips. Those who love skiing will enjoy from December to February the slopes of Vulcan Etna and Piano Battaglia in the Madonie Park.

Castellammare del Golfo

Castellammare del Golfo (pop. 15,000) is wonderfully positioned in a bay in the north-west of Sicily, just 15 minutes drive from the Greek temple of Segesta, from the famous Scopello cliffs, and from the specialist marine nature reserve of "Lo Zingaro". Years ago Castellammare del Golfo was an important centre for tuna fishing but today it is known for its spectacular location. T

he town is perfectly suited for those wanting to stay somewhere with atmosphere close to beaches, like those at Scopello, Lo Zingaro and San Vito Lo Capo. It is also the ideal starting point for several of the most interesting cultural and gastronomic tours through the provinces of Trapani, Palermo and Agrigento in Western Sicily, given the easy access by car and other means of local transport

"Great views - Lovely Villa and well appointed"

First off my wife and I are Yanks - smiling - we live just east of San Francisco and chose Villa Frassini based on Trip Advisor. We were extremely pleased on our arrival. The Villa is located only 25 to 30 mins from the Palermo Airport. We were met by the owner and were provided with all the necessary information for a delightful stay. I took my morning espresso and pastry on the terrace watching the day come alive and the small city of Castellamare di Golfo come to life. We used the Villa as a base for day trips all over western Sicily - it was a perfect location and great oasis of peace and comfort on our return. The city of Castellamare di Golfo is very tourist friendly and has many really great little restaurants. We visited San Vito Lo Capo, Erice, Trapani, Marsala (don't miss Cantina Florio), Selinunte, Segusta, Palermo, Monreale and of course Scopelo and Zingaro Park. The owner is extremely nice and will provide help and advice if asked. I cannot recommend this property more strongly especially for a couple wanting a base for day trips and warm comfortable retreat when they return. Again coffee and wine on the terrace with those views - you just can't ask for much more except maybe some good cheese and some bread.

"Even more beautiful than on the pictures"

The villa is well located, a 3 minutes ride past the village of Castellammare, up on a hill, in a very quiet area. The view of the village and the sea is breathtaking and the villa has large windows facing the sea to let you enjoy it even when you are inside. The villa is surrounded by a beautiful garden and everything is provided to enjoy the outside : lawn chairs, two tables with chairs to eat outside (on different patios, one of which is covered so you can stay outside even if it rains), a Bar-B-Q, and everywhere nature and the great view of the sea. There is parking for 2 cars, a well-equipped kitchen, a bedroom with queen bed and a living room/dining room area. It was easy to do our laundry ; no washing machine but there was soap, a big bucket and a clothesline. In short : we had everything we needed for a one-week stay where we cooked almost every evening. The owner was very helpful and replied promptly to all our enquiries. Her father met us in the village to lead us to the resort. Our plane came in quite late (close to midnight) but he met us with a smile, led us to the villa and took the time to show us how everything worked. At the end of our stay, he came to pick up the key at the agreed time, and was again very nice to us.

"Great Home with superb view"

Villa Frassini is very well situated to visit from Trapani to Palerme! Mr Bosco is a very nice gentleman and gave us all the necessary info to visit and do all the groceries we needed for our 5 nights stay in October. The pictures do not render how nice the Villa is, with all the terraces and flowers, the beautiful windows that let you see all the panorama. The kitchen is well equipped as well as the bathroom. It is very quiet and we really appreciated to relax outside at the end of a busy day! Marylou was also very eager to respond to all our inquieries. The beautiful view is worthed being in the hills instead of downtown, which was easily accessible by car. We would go back anytime!

"Absolutely superb villa that far exceeded the pictures"

My new wife and I stayed in Villa Frassini for 2 weeks. We were amazed by the place when we arrived. The view over Castellamare is beautiful. The villa is perfect for a secluded getaway. The terrace is huge and makes for a great place to relax in the evening after a day on the beach. Although a car is a necessity it is possible to walk into the marina/town in an evening. You a looking at about 25mins there and 35-40mins coming back (its pretty steep but good to walk a big meal and a few birra Morettis). But the location of the villa pitched high up in the hillside makes it truly amazing. Castellamare comes alive at night as well - it is a very beautiful town with lovely restaurants. I would thoroughly recommend the villa to anyone. The owner could not have been more helpful in pointing out some the 'local' tips and info about the town. Overall it is a wonderful place and EXCELLENT value for money.

"Highly recommended!!!!"

My husband and I stayed here for 6 nights in April and this was our second stay in this place. The villa is lovely and has a fantastic see view. It is conveniently situated between the Palermo and Trapani’s airport and have a lovely beaches nearby such as the natural resort called Lo Zingaro. I would definitely recommend the villa for those looking to escape the city; it is a very peaceful place and the weather was nice even in April. Can’t wait to stay again!
