About the home
The Fattoria Il Petriccio is located on the hills of Valdelsa, 2 miles from Castelfiorentino (Florence) the ideal starting point to visit the Tuscan art cities: half an hour drive from Firenze, Siena, Lucca, Pisa, Volterra and San Gimignano it is really located in the heart of Tuscany. Our guests can also enjoy the countryside life and they can relax in the 30 hectares estate tasting the local white wine Trebbiano and the famous Vinsanto (a 5 years old dessert wine ) as well as the Olive oil produced with the old cold pressing method. Visits to the cellar of the farm can also be arranged.
The apartment has been carefully restored according to the traditional tuscan style with terracotta floors and wooden beam ceilings and it is totally furnished and equipped. Outside in the large nearby garden a barbecue and an open arcade to eat and relax are available for our guests close to the shared swimming pool.

The Granaio apartment (about 110 mq) is located on the ground floor, it has two doube rooms with twin beds, one double room with two single beds, bathroom with shower and kitchen / living room.
The apartment can be equipped with an extra bed, if requested.
A wi.fi is available inside and outside the apartment.

A nice garden with lavanda and roses is the perfect environment to relax around around the pool. The veranda offers a super relaxing area with view on the hills. Barbeque and table tennis are available for our guests close to the veranda. The secure parking is nearby. Night lights allows to use garden and pool 24 hours.

The Tuscany / Firenze Province region
Castelfiorentino is really in the heart of Tuscany in an area rich of history near the medieval paths of the Via Francigena and close to the villages where Leonardo and Boccaccio were born.
The region is famous for its landscapes with soft rolling hills with cypress and olive trees.
Spring and autumn are the best period to visit with mild temperatures. In July and August it can be pretty hot but our location is on the top of a hill and can benefit of a pleasant breeze .
The Castelfiorentino area
Florence is considered to be among the history richest cities in the world: many churches and museums are worth a visit. The Uffizzi art gallery contains major works by Michelangelo, Botticelli and Raffaello .
In Castelfiorentino you can find the famous frescos of Benozzo Gozzoli (1420- 1497) and all kind of shops and supermarkets for your convenience.
At the farm we are available to asssit you with reservations in most of the museums.

How to reach CASTELFIORENTINO and FATTORIA IL PETRICCIO
Coming from the highway A1 (Autostrada del Sole) exit at FIRENZE SIGNA. After the exit, keep right and take the superstada in direction PISA/LIVORNO.
Coming from Firenze Airport, follow the direction PISA/LIVORNO, cross the "indian bridge" (Ponte all'indiano) and after about 1 Km take the superstada PISA/LIVORNO.
Exit the Superstrada at EMPOLI OVEST and follow the direction PONTE A ELSA and CASTELFIORENTINO.
After PONTE A ELSA continue straight and reach CASTELFIORENTINO (about 15 KM from Ponte a Elsa).
When in Castelfiorentino you'll find an Esso gasoline station: after Esso gasoline station take the bridge on your right which brings you in Via Machiavelli. Keep going in Via Machiavelli for about 1 Km. When at the rotunda turn right in Via Samminiatese. After 200 mt. you will find a gate on your left.

As well as being in one of the most beautiful landscaped regions on earth, Il Petriccio is truly an unforgettable place to stay! Tranquil and unassuming. Although we are seasoned travelers to Florence, it wasn't only until we stayed at Il Petriccio in the countryside of Florence, that we realized a true Tuscan experience. We were warmly greeted when we arrived at Il Petriccio by the owners Paolo and his lovely wife Francesca. We stayed for one week in the Granaio apartment, which included a bottle of the white wine that was made from the winery on the premises as a gift from the hosts. When you run out of wine, and you will because it is a really great wine, there is more available to purchase along with their delicious olive oil and vinegar, as well as an amazing Vin Santo you should not miss. The apartment was beautiful and very charming. The rooms were clean and spacious, decorated in traditional timeless Tuscany style with original flooring, which added to the whole Tuscan experience. The kitchen was fully equipped to cook and serve some if not all of your meals. Since there was easy access to some great grocery stores, we enjoyed shopping for fresh food, and preparing some of our meals. There are also some great restaurants that came recommended by the owners. Whatever we needed, Paolo and Francesca were there to accommodate us. They were fantastic hosts, friendly, attentive and very helpful! Along with a great swimming pool, an outdoor dining and seating area, we enjoyed a tour the grounds where we saw the vineyards, olive trees and farmland. The landscaping and views were breathtaking, clearly what you expect when you think of Tuscany. There are also many places to drive to and visit nearby. We took day trips to Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, and of course Florence, all with amazing restaurants! Also if you are up for outlet shopping, it's all a drive away. Perfect in every aspect. This was truly an amazing Tuscan experience and cannot wait to go back! Highly recommend this property. Response: Thank you for your kind words. Amazing vacation place for people who loves and appreciate the peace and quite of the sountryside. Depped in the heart of tuscany, Fattoria il Petriccio is near to cyties like Florence and Siena, and also near to many sites of historical interest. The owner Paolo is always very kind and helpful. The appartment was very clean and nicely furnished. There are many places where you can relax and enjoy nature, near the swimming pool or just under a chestnut tree Response: Thank you for your review. At Il Petriccio we are really trying to make our guests at home, that's why we have so many people coming back.
