Home description

Surrounding courtyard on the 1st floor above the Frantoio the apartment is located, with private entrance, large bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen/dining/ living area.
Signor Diego Levante still lives in the Villa and will be your host during your stay. Time to discuss the origin of the family, the famous people that stayed at the villa, together with the history and general knowledge of the area.

Tastefully restored, where possible keeping in style with its original character, adding the comfort of air conditioning for the very hot summers evenings and heating for the cooler months.

Guest can relax in the large garden area or in the downstairs sitting area which was once a cantina, where you will find a good selection of books in the library.

The Sicily region

Sicily is the largest region of Italy, with a population of 5 milion people. It has one of the richest histories starting from the ingenious people Sicuni & Siculi, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spanish and the Bourban.

Each one leaving behind a trace of their presence, even the people their physical characteristics can easily resemble a Greek, Arabic or Germanic. The Sicilian dialect has some influences from the Arabic, the French from the time of the Sicilian Vespers. Important places to visit Monreale, Agrigento, Siracusa, Piazza Amerina, Cefalù, Noto.

The hottest months are July and August, the winters are mild around 10° - 15°C.

Castelbuono area

Sicily is filled with Festivals the religious traditions of Easter, starting with the Holy Week and Palm Sunday, are eagerly followed in Cefalù.
On Good Friday the touching Solenne Processione (“Solemn Procession”) winds through the city’s streets behind the sacred images of the dead Christ and Mary Our Lady in Sorrow.
Palm Sunday focuses on the usual blessing of olive branches and palms, with the latter woven together following an ancient tradition. The main festival in Castelbuono is Santa Anna which is held at the end of July, the celebrations extend of 4 days. In August the town has Jazz and Rock festival.

How to get there

Ryanair flight daily into Palermo, Punta Raisi airport which is located 133kms from Castelbuono. The drive from the airport to the village is most of the way on motorway A20 Messina/Palermo, exiting at Castelbuono/Pollino, turn right on SS286 towards Castelbuono after 20 kms take right hand towards Isnello after 2 km arrive at Villa Levante.
The ferry port is in Palermo which is 113 km away.

The villa sits amongst a large olive grove, plenty of garden space for one to relax and for children to play in safety. The apartments section of the villa has a stone exterior and access to the apartments from courtyard.
Your host would be too pleased to show you the old Frantoio (olive press) describe the procedure of oil making and have the opportunity to sample the oil that is made from the olives on the property.

The owner of the villa speaks perfect English, is on hand to answer any questions on the surrounding area, to enrich your stay. Books with local history and information can be found in the library.

Upon confirmation a 15% deposit is required to secure your booking Payment of deposit to be paid via bank transfer in Euros or Pound Stirling.
Final payment to be paid in cash upon arrival.
