The Green Room is the first bedroom of "OurPlace" the 2 Bedroomed apartment upstairs. When we are not in residence you have the sole use of the fully equipped kitchen, open plan lounge area & 48' x 10' veranda with an amazing view across Castara bay.
Perfect for Al fresco dining, bird watching & sunsets.
It offers a chance to relax surrounded by birds, flowers & trees.
When we are in residence we would be using the 2nd bedroom ie the Yellow Room the price is then reduced to the same as one of our Self catering Studio apartments as you would share the communal areas such as the kitchen/lounge & veranda with ourselves.
This has worked very well in the past & we have meet some lovely people this way who return time & time again
The whole apartment can be booked in the "OurPlace" section.
We built this house for ourselves, friends and family to enjoy and it would have been selfish not to want to be able to share it!

A 5 minute walk to 2 safe beaches ( one with lifeguards ) in the small fishing village of Castara NOT a resort by any means, it is a working fishing village whose friendly people make visitors welcome.
Small bars to 'lime' in, places to eat locally caught fish & other dishes & buy locally grown fruit & vegetables, Small stores sell basic provisions & a few gifts & locally made handicrafts.
You can help pull in the seine nets or buy fish from the fishermen nearly every afternoon.
Swim & snorkel to coral reefs, walk in the rainforest or up to the local waterfall for a cool dip in the heat of the day.
Definitely no Jetskis, banana boats, beach hustlers or hair braiders to spoil your relaxing on the beach though you may have to move ( or join in ) if the children play beach cricket!
As the name says Carpe Diem "Seize the day"
Further details
We do have a 7 day minimum stay, we are not an hotel!
During the busier season it is worth inquiring as between longer lets we do sometimes have shorter periods available.
Please ask us if you have children although we do not like to say no there are climbable handrails to the balconies and you may not be able to relax if you have to be watching a toddler all the time!
Also upstairs has wooden floors so small people running around can cause a disturbance to those below.
The walk up from the road is by an approximately 100 foot concrete path with a step every now and then. This has not stopped guests with mobility issues in the past but I would not like to say the house is totally wheelchair friendly, sorry.
Further details indoors
All the beds are netted and were made locally from red cedar which has also been used to make all the doors and windows.
The ceilings are high and so all the rooms are cool. Fans supplement the cool breeze which blows most of the time and so mosquitoes really are not a problem where we are. The idea was to make the whole house as open and airy as possible.
The cooking facilities are more than adequate having a good stove and grill,a larger refrigerator / freezer, toaster, juicer, cafetiere, electric kettle and enough good utensils for cooking and baking.
Although the water is safe to drink we have fitted a filtration system as well in each kitchen.
The whole house is covered by a really good wi-fi connection though we will turn it off it you wish!
This prevents your office getting in touch-guests have been known to fall out over this!
All the rooms have small safes fitted to take travel documents, camera etc.
There is a pretty good supply of holiday reading ( beach ) books as well as books on the birds, trees, fish and other wildlife.
There is also an ironing board and iron in each room as well as a hairdryer.
Further details outdoors
The house is surrounded by flowering plants and trees which attract the colourful birds. Mango, banana, paw paw, cocoa and guava supply us with fruit as well as a variety of herbs including lemon grass, shadow benny ( local coriander ) chive, ginger, thyme and hopefully now rosemary ( but I have not had much luck with it YET! )
We have BBQs to use, loungers, hammocks are available.
There are lines to dry your clothes & swimming costumes.
We do ask guests to wash sand off outside not in the shower as it does build up and can eventually block the drains, usually when I am not there.
