The Costa Blanca/Valencia region
Costa Blanca offers a great variety of different types of location and each place has something for everyone. For example you can go inland and enjoy the unspoilt 'real' Spain with many outdoor activities including peaceful walks, horse-riding, mountain treks and excellent on or off road cycling or enjoy the pleasure of coastal resorts.
Alicante is the capital of the Costa Blanca. Alicante is a cultural city with parks, gardens and night-life with many restaurants, pubs and discos. Alicante has a yacht club with possibilities for learning to sail. Shopping is such a pleasant activity in the exquisite, seafront promenade. Visit the music pavilion and enjoy a free al fresco concert beside the sea. Musical performances are ususally held in the afternoons and on Sunday mornings during summer.
The fine sands of San Juan's beach extends some 7km and is often described as one of the best in Spain. Just North of Alicante is Albufereta with numerous shops and cafes and of course plenty of sand. In the Port of Alicante lays Saladar beach.
A 20 minute drive away is San Vicente del Raspeig, this is a large modern city where the University of Alicante is situated. San Vicente is popular and bustling with a wide variety of Restaurants, Shops and Factory Outlet Shopping Precinct. There is also a Bowling Alley as well as a Saturday street-market. Alicante Golf Club, Bonalba Golf Club and El Plantio Golf Club are all in the vicinity.
Benidorm is a 45 minute drive offering an amazing variety of entertainment including a truly spectacular Theme and Water Park.
Castalla is surrounded by mountains where history and nature shine and is presided over by the remains of an 11th Century Moorish castle. The town has narrow and steep streets and yet surrounded by extensive areas of pine trees and olive groves.
