Mountains and beaches, peace and quiet....
If that's what you're looking for, then a holiday with us at our B&B will mean you'll never want to leave. Our home comes with one of the best views in the area; to the east, a lake; to the south, valleys and hilltop villages and to the west, the beautiful Majella Mountains National Park.
Our local area is noted for Cycling and is particulary suitable for cycling clubs or individuals, who are made extremely welcome by the locals. From here you can walk, hike, enjoy cycling, bird watching, white water rafting and even be at the beach in just 30 minutes.
If your dream of Italy is tiny villages with narrow streets and weekly markets,or great food and wine we have that too.
Fara San Martino, the home of the best pasta in the world is right next door and so is the beautiful town of Casoli, where the summertime sees festa and concerts as do many of the nearby villages.
We have 3 guest rooms; 1 double and 2 twin rooms - of which one can be easily converted into a double plus an extra fold up bed. We have 2 shower rooms - which are shared, but as we only have one party of 4 at a time it's nice and private.
You are welcome to relax in our lounge, which is equipped with English satellite TV (if you don't want to miss that crucial game of cricket or your favourite soap) and a DVD player, you can enjoy a game of table tennis & a round of darts in the cool of the cantina . We also have a free standing 3m pool where you chill out on a hot day on our spacious terrace.
In the morning enjoy breakfast in the breakfast room, or eat al fresco, whilst you decide on your days adventure - you are more than welcome to stay around and enjoy the breathtaking scenery from the comfort of your sun lounger, but if you choose to go out and about to explore the area you'll have a lot to experience.
We have a very comfortable home with everything you need in a home from home setting with just that little bit more.

The Abruzzo region
Abruzzo with its fantastic mountain range that forms the geographical centre of Italy and encompassing the Majella,Grand Sasso and Monti Sibillini National Park is one of the few places where you can escape the tourist hordes. Abruzzo has many areas of outstanding natural beauty where the locals are only too pleased to show you their beautiful countryside. Life here is as it was many many years ago ...unspoilt by progress.
There is something for everyone to enjoy either the wonderful mountains, the Blue Flag beaches to great fun at the many Festa's that happen all over Abuzzo in the summer months...even on the beach! The climate can be very hot in the summer months so its perfect for sun worshipers you are welcome to stay on our terrace all day and chill out as if you were in your own home......just taking in the beauty of your surroundings.
The climate is very pleasant in September and October with Festa's still going on. Late October we start to harvest our Olives which is amazing . We then take them to our local small factory and literally watch our Olive Oil be produced.
So come and join us you won't regret it.
We are located in between the towns of Casoli and Civitella, in a secluded area surrounded by olive groves; an ideal location to discover the wonderful majestic mountains either on foot,by bike or by car. We are approximately 30mins by car from the warm Adriatic ,with its beautiful beaches where you can still find peaceful coves safe, bathing for children and a warm welcome The beaches are popular with locals and Italians who take their holidays here.We are also very close to Lago di Casoli,a manmade lake with a picnic BBQ area, and a lovely restaurant which overlooks the lake.
Casa Cassettari has a large terrace with panoramic views, which enable our visitors to watch and hear the birds of prey that soar above. The mountains are still home for Marsican Bears ,Wolves,Chamois Deer and of course the Eagles/Birds of Prey. but perhaps most famous are the local Wild Boar, hunted in the Autumn months by locals, they appear on the menu as "Cinghiale".
Casoli is a beautiful medieval hilltop town with commanding views over the Aventino river. There are many shops here to satisfy the shopper in some of you! A large market is held every Friday ,which is full of local produce including cheeses & craftwork, even hot food stalls with the local Porchetta ( roasted pig on a spit ) and chicken to sample...terrific.
Civitella Messer Raimondo
There are a few shops here which include chemist, baker, and a small grocery, also very useful are the Post Office and the butchers nearby .The small market, held in the piazza every Wednesday is a good source of local fruit and vegetrables;it's also a good place to meet the locals.
Fara San Martino
Fara is famous for its pasta production. DeCecco and Delverde pasta have their factorys here, and both export all over the world; visitors are allowed a tour of the factory on request. There are many shops including a Bank,a selection of bars, supermarkets and a fantastic bakery with delicious local delicacies,of course every Thursday is market day, with enough stalls to please everyone.
The Grotto del Cavallone is a extremely exciting adventure as you travel firstly by cable car and then walk into the highest cave in Europe that is accessible to visitors. Open only during the summer months.
Lama del Peligni
There are many small villages to explore around Lama with many walking trails. Lama has the Majella National Park Visitor Centre with live cameras which monitor the Chamois on the Nature Reserve.
An open air swimming pool is available in the summer months for a small fee.It is a fantastic place to cool off, with an adult and children's pool, changing rooms, sunbeds and bar with snacks and a restaurant (or you can take a picnic) it makes a great day out as it's only around 15 minutes away by car.

"Idilic Italian Retreat"
Lynn was the perfect hostess and looked after us from the moment she collected us at Pescara airport. The house is very comfortable and the terrace views are magnificent, a lake on the valley floor and dramatic mountains behind you, it's not often that you can look down on eagles soaring on thermals. Local bar restaurants offer fantastic value (10e a head with wine.....) I'm a bit of a military buff and the local WW2 history is very rich, we visited mountain water falls, markets, the beach, plenty for us. If you are considering expat life in Italy, this is a fantastic example of how you can fit in and I'm sure John & Lynn can offer plenty of advice. If you want a comfortable and relaxing base for a stay in this region, look no further, very highly recommended. We have already booked another stay in September, I can't say more than that, other than to thank the McEwans for their endless hospitality.
It was a pleasure to show you the hidden gems of Abruzzo.Look forward to seeing you again in September. Thank you Lyn McEwan

"Beautiful scenery, the perfect getaway!"
My husband and I stayed here in late October for a weekend break and a last minute attempt to catch some sun. We weren't disappointed on either count; the location is as peaceful and far away from the rat-race as you can imagine and the weather was so good we even managed a day out at the local (deserted!) beach. John and Lyn made our stay as easy as possible, arranging us transport from the airport which allowed us to sit back and relax from the moment we arrived. The terrace is a sun trap and was the perfect place to soak up some much-needed vitamin D. If you're addicted to your iphone/ipad as I am, the wifi was a great plus-point as I could download movies & books. Overall a great value find, we will be returning!

"This is such a beautiful location the best view ever, everyday!"
We had such a wonderful time at this Villa the view from the balcony and living room windows alone make this a must. We even saw some wild boar! The location is perfect for travelling, you can drive to the mountains or down to the beach. Close by we found some really good restaurants.. Absolutely Gorgeous!

"Rustic Italy at it's best"
Having visited the Umbrian and Tuscan regions I thought I'd seen some of the best vistas and dramatic landscape that Italy could offer, therefore I stood amazed upon visiting this region of Abruzzo. (Also the back drop to the Gorge Clooney film (The American). If you want a 'get away from it all holiday' this is the place. Having two young boys ages 11 & 14 the terrace provided ample space through the days we chose to relax at Casa Cassettari. Not 20 mins drive is a great outside pool complex with cafe, bar, toddle & adult pool with an extremley relaxed feel and was extremley clean. 35min drive away is the beautiful coast with it numerous beaches stretching quite some distance, although in high seaon there is plenty of space you'll more or less have the beach to yourself outside of August Numerous small villages which are extremley welcoming with festa's and local markets taking place most weeks.
