Welcome to Villa La Majelletta - and a different type of Italy villa rental holiday just for couples.

La Majelletta is one of our three tranquil villas for two, (which we operate under the trading name of 'Villasfor2'), set in a south-facing acre of unspoiled countryside amidst olive groves, with what a guest has called 'the best views in Abruzzo'.

We've created our villas from a 19th century barn, ensuring that each has exactly the same layout and amenities - and wonderful views - so none is 'better' than the others. Inside each villa, it's light, cool and airy, with individually-controlled air-conditioning; central heating; and free wireless internet access.

Right outside your door, there's your own private space on the big sun terrace, with a wooden table, stripey sun umbrella and a couple of wooden chairs. Perfect for breakfast; al fresco dining; or a nightcap under the stars.

Just for our guests, there's a sparkling salt-water swimming pool, bordered by olive trees, with another sun terrace. And with never more than six people here at any time, there's plenty of space to spread out and relax, with enough comfy sunbeds and umbrellas for everyone.

We're rural - but not remote. A car's essential here and within a few minutes' drive, you'll find all our local shops, bars and restaurants. On your arrival, we'll drive you round in our car on a quick familiarisation tour to show you where everything is.

Subject to the weather, our pool's open from early May until late September and, like each of our villas, Pesco Falcone is specifically designed for two people only. It has no extra sleeping facilities.

We also have a blanket no-smoking policy across our property - inside and outside. As far as 'house rules' are concerned, that's about it

The Marche/Abruzzo region

We're in Abruzzo. Where's Abruzzo ? Head due east from Rome and when you hit the Adriatic coast - you've arrived !

The region has a higher proportion of protected countryside than any other region of Europe, earning it the title of 'Italy's Green Heart.' Within its boundaries are three National Parks, all offering pristine forests and mountains, with truly spectacular scenery and crossed by well-signposted trails along which you can just go for a stroll - or a serious hike.

Or if you prefer to be beside the sea, within half-an-hour are the superb, sandy, Blue Flag beaches of the Adriatic.

On your arrival, stand in the carpark and take a look to the left. There's the Adriatic Sea, an easy half-hour's drive away. Now look to the right and take in the mountains of the Majella National Park. And in-between are far reaching views across miles of unspoiled countryside, dotted with vineyards and olive groves.

The weather's pretty good too ! Spring comes early and summer lasts until late September, with peak heat in July. Autumn is mild and though we get some snow in winter, it very rarely drops below freezing.

Casoli, Abruzzo

Our area ? Well now...

How do you fancy a delicious 2-course, freshly-cooked meal, with wine, water and coffee all for €10 each ? You'll get that at one of our local restaurants.

Or the best pizza you've ever eaten, from a traditional wood-fired oven ? That's nearby too.

Seafood restaurants and Michelin-starred fine dining ? All ready and waiting.

Exclusive wine tastings at one of Abruzzo's best wineries from €10 each ? We'll arrange it for you.

Designer label shops ? Shopping malls ? Traditional handicrafts ? Markets ? Take your pick.

Open-air fairs, feasts, festivals and fireworks throughout the year ? We know all the best ones

Beautiful unspoiled surroundings ? Sightseeing ? Interesting places to visit ? Sure !

Late-night clubs and discos ? No, not really. (But we can organise half-day mule-treks instead !)

We've always taken the view that if we're prepared to accept 5-star reviews from guests who've really enjoyed their holiday with us, we must also be prepared to accept the reviews that aren't so great and understand that every once in a while a guest simply won't like the experience of staying here.

In fact a negative review has a highly positive effect in providing a bit of a wake-up call, stopping any complacency in its tracks and forcing us to evaluate what we might have done differently, or better, to to turn things around.

And while some would argue that no holiday facility anywhere in the world is going to fulfill the expectations of every guest, every time, that shouldn't allow us to simply shrug and sit back without giving it our best shot to prove exactly the opposite.

The key comment in this guest's review is that "Both the area and the property were not as enjoyable as we had hoped." While we're disappointed to read this, we have to point out that our website is packed with photos, descriptions and videos about us; our location; our villas; and our area of Abruzzo, all of which provide a fair, accurate and balanced picture of everything that's on offer.

And in the interests of fairness, we also have to mention that during their 6-day stay with us, these guests enjoyed:
- personalised Italian lessons in their villa
- a specially-arranged wine-tasting at an elite winery
- a specially-arranged lunch at a local agriturismo
- and visits to other local restaurants and attractions

Of course we're sad that despite all this, our guests still went home dissatisfied. Clearly, in their view, things could have been better. So while we can't do much about heat or bugs, (aside from the aircon and the flyscreens in each villa !) we'll continue to do our very best to provide great holidays that are remembered for all the right reasons - and not any wrong ones.

ps. Our guest mentions 'severing a knee injury'. This sounds highly alarming, but what we believe she means to say is 'suffering a knee injury', for which, despite our offers, she declined treatment or medical assistance.
