The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region

The World Heritage Site of Sintra is well worth a visit. It is an old Moorish city with two castles on top of the hill, one (Castelo dos Mouros) medieval-style stone castle and the other (Palácio da Pena) colourful and unique and the fabulous "Quinta da Regaleira".

Lisbon has many sights to withhold; from taking an old electric tram up the steep hills of the city centre or taking Santa Justa Elevator to the top to get a panoramic view of the city of Lisbon. Visit Alfama (the old part of the city) which is uphill so make sure to wear comfortable shoes! At night you can enjoy lots of restaurants, fado houses and late night bars/clubs. Also great to visit for adults and children is the Oceanarium and the Zoo.

Worth visiting in the Estremadura and beyond are, Óbidos, Sintra, Azeitão & Setúbal, Fatima & Nazaré. Alentejo is a little further (about 2 hours) but worth visiting are Évora and Monsaraz. The Esporão Wine Estate is worth having lunch at if you are going as far as Monsaraz.

Cascais / Aldeia de Juzo area

The local village of Aldeia de Juzo boasts an array of shops and restaurants, including a paper shop, butchers, general store and restaurants, take away, all within a 5 minute walk.

Cascais is only a 5 minute drive away and is a bustling seaside town, the jewel of the Lisbon Riviera. With shops, restaurants, bars and beaches, what more could you want.

How to get there

Lisbon airport is 30 mins away, with daily flights from all over Europe. Budget flights available from most uk airports to Lisbon. Recommended airlines Easyjet, Monarch, BMI baby,Jet2 and Ryanair.

Car hire is not essential, but recommended as there is so much to explore in the Region. Car hire and transfers easily available from airport. We recommend that you book these in advance. Auto Jardin are very efficient

Although small, the apartment is fitted with all conveniences including satellite TV which gets dozens of channels including UK channels.

The apartment consists of 1 double room, single room which can sleep up to 2, lounge with sofa bed, table and satellite TV, bathroom with shower,toilet,bidet and washbasin, small but fully equipped kitchen.

Guests have use of the outside the terrace where you can sunbathe on the sunbeds provide, or dine al fresco beneath the vines.

Plenty of parking available at the front of the property or you can park securely on the owners driveway.

We had a fantastic holiday and the owners Lidia and Tony couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable, Showing us the local area and always on hand for any queries. Loved eating beneath the vines. The local beaches are spectacular and so much to see in the area. Sintra was breathtaking. can't wait to go back

Tony & Lidia were extremely kind and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The apartment was spotlessly clean, thoughtfully equipped and child friendly. We especially loved the beautiful garden for eating outside and giving our children (age 1 and 3) space to run. It is set in a peaceful location. However,there are local shops for groceries within walking distance. With a car there is easy access to Cascais, Sintra and the National Park as well as a good motorway link to Lisbon (15 - 20 mins away) A great place to stay! We will definitely be recommending it to friends.

The place was great, well furnished and very comfortable for my family. The Land lords, Lidia and Tony are Angels, They were so accomadating, generous,helpful and friendly, that we never felt like outsiders it was like living with family, They not only showed us how to get to the wonderful sights but also escorted us there.
They made me and my family feel so welcome that we cant wait to go there again.
I have stayed in various places before but never felt so much at home as we felt with them. Most of all my children loved them. And they organise the best barbacue. sitting out and enjoying the cool breeze was great Thank you.for your hospitality, you will definitely see us there again.
