Less than 5 minutes to all amenities; beaches, shops, restaurants, transport links etc....Comprises two private spaces (can be let separately) :- “TEMPO DA MÚSICA” - is an on-suite space with small kitchenette and makes an ideal base for golfers, art lovers or a romantic getaway for two. “Lugares Da Memoria” - comprises one bedroom, an open plan living & dining with a small kitcenette. The full bathroom has a small internal courtyard leading off it which serves well for laying out in the sun in a private space with a book. When combined, Art House can accommodate up to six people.
All guests have use of a communal, as well the living room and dining room areas. Some units are equipped with a full kitchen whilst others offer a small type of kitchenette which includes tea making facilities and fridge and microwave oven. A continental breakfast is included in the rate we charge.

Spacious rooms have been restored to the highest standard. Stylish decor is modern. Restful rooms are filled with contemporary art by the owner, offering tranquillity and calm.
Located in the tree lined church square in the cobble streets of the villa of Cascais. Ideal base for golfers and holiday makers alike.
Very close to all amenities including restaurants, bars & Portuguese cafés. Beautiful sandy beaches, the marina, promenades and purpose built cycle paths are just five minutes' walk. Ideally situated for golfers within 10 minutes drive of several golf courses. Close by are the picturesque and extensive gardens of the Parque de Gandarinha, where you will find mature exotic trees. A car is not necessary, as the train and bus stations are close to hand, allowing you to be exploring Lisbon within 30 minutes.
The rooms are designed to be tranquil spaces and as such do not have televisions. However, television & DVD player can be provided on request. Please ask us!

On the doorstep to the property is the Parque Marechal Carmona - one single space resulting from the marriage of the gardens of the Palace of the Conde of Castro Guimarães and the property of the Visconde of Gandarinha. Apart from an abundance of exotic trees and shrubs, the tranquillity of this park offers curious hiding places to quietly read a book or romantic tree lined pathways to wander around the small ponds, a mini zoo, aviary, youth library, infant playground, duck pond, café, museum, chapel, rose gardens etc... right in the heart of Cascais. •Situated close to the popular square, Largo de Camões in the cobble street zone of Cascais, with its abundance of choice when it comes to cafés, restaurants or bars.
•The train station is about a 5-minute walk with good links to Estoril, Carcavelos & Lisbon and bus links to Sintra.
•The tourism office is also in the square, for all the maps and local information you need.
•Welcome pack on arrival includes Tea, Coffee, Milk, Sugar, and a Bottle of Local Wine.
•We would be pleased to arrange golf bookings. It might be possible to play with local ex-pats on many of the excellent golf courses surrounding Lisbon and Cascais. Please enquire. The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region
Lisbon is an all-year-round destination. Summers, whilst warm are rarely oppressive and the cooling sea breeze keeps it comfortable even during the summer months. Very mild winters mean you can enjoy your short break in the winter sun in Lisbon.
The town of Sintra is a close-by World Heritage Site and well worth a day's visit.
Lisbon has lots to delight, from taking in an old electric tram up the steep hills of Lisbon to whizzing up to the top of the Santa Justa Elevator to get a panoramic view of the city of Lisbon. Do visit Alfama (the old quarter) and be sure to wear comfortable rubber soled shoes to avoid slipping on the cobbles.
June 12th is the night of the Festival of St Anthony. The best night for trying traditional sardines in Lisbon.
Go by tram -is the best - to Belem. It leaves from Praca Figueira and stops at Praca do Comercio and Cais do Sodre before going on to Belem - a wonderful place of fountains, parks and monuments and monasteries.
GOLF:
There are 8 excellent golf courses within a 20 min drive from Cascais.
The golf courses of Oitavos, Quinta da Marinha, Quinta da Beloura, Estoril (27 holes) are nearby all within 10 to 15 minutes drive:- Penha Longa (27 holes), Belas, the Lisbon Sports Club are within a 20 to 30 min drive. Around an hour’s drive are Praia D’El Rey, Ribagolfe I & II, St Estavao, Qtª do Peru, Aroeira I & II, Montado and Troia golf courses. The Atlântico da Penha Longa course has already been the scene of several European Tour competitions. This hilly course offers broad magnificent views over the countryside that surrounds you with the mountains and the sea. The Quinta da Marinha Oitavos course, the newest in the region, designed by the famous American architect Arthur Hills, is the first course in Europe and the second in the world to have the Audubon nternational ‘Certified Signature Sanctuary/Gold’. With excellent views over the Palácio da Pena and Cabo da Roca.
The Cascais area
Cascais Marina is great for good food and atmoshphere. Sit amoung the boats and enjoy the sunset from the top deck.
The Artisan Fair in Estoril (behind Casino) each July and August offers handicraft and a variety of restaurants serving traditional food.
Bicycles can be hired locally in Cascais and there is a bycicle path which stretches for miles along the beautiful coastline to Guincho Beach. There is also a regular bus service to Guincho Beach, #405. The #403 will get you to Sintra.
Another useful route is the #406 from Cascais to Cascais Shopping ( a mall type shopping centre on the outskirts of Cascais&Estoril) It stops in Estoril by the beach before returning to Cascais terminus.
Night life includes the local CocoNuts Club in Cascais which spills out onto the beach and rocks at the back. Or take in the International Show and/or Dinner at the Estoril Casino.
For the very young or young at heart, take a stroll through the local park (Parque Municipal da Gandarinha) in Cascais. There is an infant playground & mini zoo where you can feed the ducks - or just sit at the local café and read a book whilst peacocks strut their stuff all around you. Sit out in the late afternoon and enjoy the sunset on the Esplanade Bar in Cascais (Praia da Rainha), whilst enjoying a champaigne sangria. Or if you're an early riser, catch the auctions in the square where the fishermen sell their daily catch. Market days are Wednesday (full market day) and Saturday, (fresh produce)
There are many walking routes in the mountains (parts of it protected by World Heritage) behind Cascais, if you wish we can provide information and/or contacts to the local walking groups here.

The nearest beach in the Bay of Cascais is 800m from the property; other beaches on the Cascais/Estoril coast are within easy walking distance 10 to 15 minutes along the promenade. A few mins drive away is the magnificent, spectacular Guincho coastline, with sandy beaches and rocky coves or towards Lisbon is the alternative popular surfing beach of Carcavelos.

The Art House is a large house in the quiet, narrow streets of Cascais. I believe it contains 4 apartments and we were staying in 'Lugares Da Memoria'. The accomodation is self-contained and everything we needed was there. However there was access to the communal dining room and lounge were there was a constant supply of good coffee and bread rolls were delivered each morning which was a lovely touch. The location is perfect. Cascais is clearly busy in peak season but the apartment is just far enough away from the centre to feel tranquil. Having said that, it's literally a 5-10 minute walk to the beach were all the action is. |
