Cascais, once a tiny fishing village, is now a thriving tourist resort with its own yachting marina. There's still a working fishing fleet based in Cascais Bay and fish is still auctioned off to the hotels and restaurants every morning. The historic old town is full of charm and reminiscent of the quaint little fishing village of a bygone era.

The nearest beach in the Bay of Cascais is 100m from the house, other beaches on the Cascais/Estoril coast are within easy walking distance.

A few mins drive away is the magnificent, spectacular Guincho coastline, with sandy beaches and rocky coves.

Nearest shop is 5 mts away, it has everything you may need!

Should you have a car, parking in the narrow streets close by is free - and has never been a problem.

Public transport in Cascais is very good - and cheap! Bicycles are available in the town - free! You just need to leave some identification.

Boat trips ans surf lessons can be arranged.

Cascais is becoming a very popular and safe holiday destination .

The Central Portugal region

The Cascais/Estoril Coast has a wonderful climate and is a superb natural environment.

In historical times Cascais was the first town that sailors would see as they approached the Tagus estuary and their last glimpse of Portugal as they sailed away into the Atlantic to all corners of the earth.

Cascais is still an active fishing town, it has glorious beaches, excellent restaurants & shops and a vibrant nightlife.

Estoril, once popular with the Royalty of Europe and one of the 'espionage centres of the second world war', is an easy 30 min walk along the coast.

Sintra, with it's palaces and castles - a World Heritage Site - is only 20mins away.

With glorious summers lasting from early May until October Cascais basks in sunshine for much of the year. Average temperatures in the summer are around the 30°C mark, ideal for beaches, yet not too hot to play golf or enjoy the rich and cultural heritage of Cascais.

There are 8 excellent golf courses within a 20 min drive from Cascais - see local tourism board web-site:

The nearest sandy beach in the Bay of Cascais is 100m from the house, other beaches on the Cascais/Estoril coast are within easy walking distance. A few mins drive away is the magnificent, spectacular Guincho coastline, with rocky coves and sandy beaches - a surfers' paradise & has hosted the world windsurf championships on several occasions .

"great location needs money spent on house to upgrade."

great location needs refurbishment and damp proofing . very good location close to centre and great character area.i believe it is to have major overhaul if so, i would stay there again.

We will close the Town House in 3 weeks and carry out major a major overhaul - a new kitchen & service areas, 2 new bathrooms, new wardrobes, painting etc etc and a damp course
The house should be available for renting after the works by late November - there will be new photographs and descriptions etc on the main pages of the site

"Perfect Location in Cascais"

The best things about this place were the location and the fact that it had an outdoor seating area, which seemed to be rare in the old part of Cascais. It really is only a couple of minutes walk to downtown Cascais and the beach. We also found the owner very friendly and helpful. We did not go wrong following 4 restaurant tips from him in the week we stayed there.

Great house with all the home comforts you could possibly need and only a few minutes walk from the promenade with all the shops, restaurants and bars. The owner David couldn't have been more helpful we felt very safe and Cascais is a lovely place for a holiday.

"Perfect location, owner and holiday"

This house is as you see it on the picture. Traditional, pretty. It has an amazing location. Quiet but central with a small shop on the doorstep selling coffees, cakes and provisions. the beach can be accessed about 100 yards away. I enjoyed a great early morning dip with the sun rising. David the owner, was amazing. He patiently answered my many questions prior to arriving as well as organising reliable transport to and from the airport. If you want modern and brand new, this isn't for you. We couldn't have had a better house and person to deal with. Thanks David.

"Lovely house in an excellent location."

3 generations of our family spent a most enjoyable week in Cascais and the house was ideal for our needs. All amenities were within a short walking distance and David was an excellent host.

"Great Location"

Our annual renunion of 5 friends was in Cascais this year and we had a wonderful stay in the Town House of David Sutcliffe. I especially enjoyed that it was in a residential part with Portuguese neighbours and yet was so close to restaraunts and beaches. Also we were walking distrance to trains and buses for trips to Lisbon and Sintra. We were spoiled for choice. The house was clean and comfortable and had the little extras of tea pot and toaster which made it homely. I am happy to recommend staying in this house.

"Great stay, though the house needs some updating."

Cascais is fabulous. David and Teresa, our landlords, were very FRIENDLY and very RESPONSIVE to all our needs. The location is perfect, and is among wonderful Portuguese neighbors. The only negative thing we could say is that the apartment could use some updating.

The house is to be updated shortly - painting, new fridge etc etc - have had to wait until the winter has passed - and the rains!!

"Great house in great, central location."

Very centrally located with good room sizes and a pleasant courtyard garden. The beach is a stones throw away and the railway station is only a short walk with easy access to Lisbon.

"Excellent located house - great beds and superb patio"

We stayed in this house for a week and found it great. Both location of the house and it's facilites all was as expected. Not fancy but adequate for a weeks vacation where light cooking is prioritized. Though, great and large beds (4 out of 5)!! Prioritized when you are a tall family. Absolutely recommended to rent.
