About the owners:
We're a couple in our early thirties who outgrew this apartment and moved into a larger one. I'm a Telecommunications Engineer and Claudia is a school-teacher.
Year purchased: 2006
Why we chose an apartment in this location:
I've grown near this apartment, it was a dream come true for me to buy this previledged apartment next to everything I love. As a couple we loved watching the starry nightsky during the summer confortable nights outside in the terrace, we loved bringing friends over to the terrace, listening to some soft music, relaxing outside all day long in the hammock or the loungers. We'd go for our nightly walk in the sea promenade. We'd go out at night to the most various places by train without worrying about drunk driving. We're detail oriented, so everything in this house was thought out to provide you the same kind of experience we had while living here, and I've got to tell you, it was truly amazing.
Unique benefits of the property:
Breathtaking, silent, huge nightsky over the ocean (should weather permit). You should see the thunderstorms...they light the whole place up through the huge windows facing the sea. Every little detail in this house was carefully thought out...we're not cutting any corners as we owe a lot to this place. We passionately believe it deserves to show itself to you in its full glory. No need to convince you on the benefits of the seaview and the proximity to the beach. Go everywhere in town, see everything then come back to a relaxed, tranquil and very easygoing environment. Have some great guys giving you suggestions should you need them: us.

BookThe Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region
15 minutes away (car or train) from Portugal's capital city, the Estoril Coast has a wonderful climate and is a superb natural environment.
Owing to a Mediterranean type micro-climate, the Estoril Coast has mild winters and an ideal summer temperature which never gets too hot. The autumn is ideal and is like a second spring.
Nowhere else in the world can such dramatic changes of scenery and such contrasting atmospheres be experienced in as small an area as the Estoril Coast. The region offers a concentration of different experiences all within a half hour’s drive. Apart from an enormous range of sights attractive to any visitor, a number of more specialised interests can also be pursued.
The Cascais / Carcavelos area
Lisbon, one of the oldest and most fascinating capital cities in Europe, it has everything a city can provide: a unique atmosphere, a rich history back to the time of the discoveries, good shopping, entertainment of all types and a wealth of cultural activities.
Cascais
Cascais was originally a small fishing port with tourism and a variety of properties situated on the sea front, it has now developed over the years into a very high standard place to live for many Portuguese. The town centre has kept its charm with a good selection of restaurants, shops, lively bars all located within the narrow cobbled streets.
Carcavelos:
Carcavelos is a parish in the Portuguese municipality of Cascais, about 12 km west of Lisbon. The village used to be known for the Carcavelos wine, but since the wine production is nowadays reduced, Carcavelos is better known among surfers because of the good surfing condition of the Carcavelos beach.
Carcavelos also marks the mouth of the Tejo River. To the east side of the Carcavelos beach there is a huge fortification named Forte de São Julião da Barra. It was used to protect the Tejo river entrance from enemy ships. Currently it is used as the official summer residence of the Ministry of Defense.
In the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, Carcavelos was an important landing point in the international telegraph network, providing crucial communication links for the British Empire. Most of the links were run by forerunners of the Cable & Wireless company.
Carcavelos is home to a number of international schools including Saint Julian's.

The penthouse is lovely and very charmingly decorated and the view over the ocean is very nice. Although it was getting colder outside, we still spent quite a bit of time relaxing on the rooftop terrace. The beach is very close, a nice 10 min walk; the station which will take you to Lisbon in 30 min and the shop are even closer. On arrival we were greeted by Adelaide and she was just as helpful as the owners Miguel and Claudia. Whenever we needed help or a favour, they responded before we could blink our eyes. We had a very nice time and wished we could have stayed longer! We will definitely go back to Portugal! |

My boyf and I booked this accommodation for mid-Sept 2012 because it offered everything we wanted for our holiday. It was close to the beach and amenties and had a good sized balcony from the photos and so we were extremely excited to have found such an apartment. Unfortunately, due to some personal circumstances, we were not able to commit to the holiday and Miguel, the owner, was able to offer a us a full refund of our deposit. Miguel was extremely lovely and helpful in our booking process. He emailed us directions to get to the aprtment from Lisbon airport and plenty of information about the area, with recommendations and things to do whilst we were in Portugal after our booking. From the few emails we had from Miguel, we felt he would have been a great host and it is a real shame that we were not able to take our trip and enjoy the apartment, and meet him and his girlfriend in person. |

This really is a lovely place to stay in a great location! We arrived late friday night and was met by Miguel, Claudia and Mrs Adelade who were very accomodating, as we have a 2 year old they kindly offerred to meet us with a car seat at the airport which was a huge help.. We were provided complimentory coffee and a lovely bottle of red wine which I thought was very kind. The apartment itself is lovely, clean and has everything you need. The terrace is a great place to relax after a busy day. Everything from the local Pingo shop to the bakery which does amazing sausage rolls my partner stopped there everday they were so good is on your doorstep. Its a 10 minute walk to the beach which is relaxed and never too busy and a 2 minute walk to train station so its a perfect location for exploring. The apartment had several Lisbon guide books and we especially liked the alternative one worth a read!! All in all there is little that can be said to fault this apartment and the couple who let it as they really do go the extra mile to help if you need any assistance and leave you to it if you dont! We would definatly stay there again when we go back to Portugal, as for a couple or small family I think you would be hard pressed to find somewhere better within this budget. Thanks very much happy holidays! |
