The apartment's central location means that car rental isn't necessary. The Cascais train station, which has a regular service to Estoril and Lisbon, is less than a 5 minute walk from the property. With a host of holiday activities on your doorstep, including six superb golf courses, the historic town of Sintra (a World Heritage Site), beautiful sandy beaches and the biggest casino in Europe, the Estoril Coast offers all the ingredients for a memorable holiday!

The Costa de Lisboa/Lisbon region
Lisbon is an all-year-round destination. Summers, whilst warm are rarely oppressive and the cooling sea breeze keeps it comfortable even during the summer months. Very mild winters mean you can enjoy your short break in the winter sun in Lisbon. The town of Sintra is a close-by World Heritage Site and well worth a day's visit. Lisbon has lots to delight, from taking in an old electric tram up the steep hills of Lisbon to whizzing up to the top of the Santa Justa Elevator to get a panoramic view of the city of Lisbon. Do visit Alfama (the old quarter) and be sure to wear comfortable rubber soled shoes to avoid slipping on the cobbles. June 12th is the night of the Festival of St Anthony. The best night for trying traditional sardines in Lisbon. Go by tram - #15 is the best - to Belem. It leaves from Praca Figueira and stops at Praca do Comercio and Cais do Sodre before going on to Belem - a wonderful place of fountains, parks and monuments and monasteries.
Cascais area
Cascais Marina is great for good food and atmoshphere. Sit amoung the boats and enjoy the sunset from the top deck. The Artisan Fair in Estoril (behind Casino) each July and August offers handicraft and a variety of restaurants serving traditional food. Bicycles can be hired locally in Cascais and there is a bycicle path which stretches for miles along the beautiful coastline to Guincho Beach. There is also a regular bus service to Guincho Beach, #405. The #403 will get you to Sintra. Another useful route is the #406 from Cascais to Cascais Shopping ( a mall type shopping centre on the outskirts of Cascais&Estoril) It stops in Estoril by the beach before returning to Cascais terminus. Night life includes the local CocoNuts Club in Cascais which spills out onto the beach and rocks at the back. Or take in the International Show and/or Dinner at the Estoril Casino. For the very young or young at heart, take a stroll through the local park (Parque Municipal da Gandarinha) in Cascais. There is an infant playground & mini zoo where you can feed the ducks - or just sit at the local café and read a book whilst peacocks strut their stuff all around you. Sit out in the late afternoon and enjoy the sunset on the Esplanade Bar in Cascais (Praia da Rainha), whilst enjoying a champaigne sangria. Or if you're an early riser, catch the auctions in the square where the fishermen sell their daily catch. Market days are Wednesday (full market day) and Saturday, (fresh produce) There are many walking routes in the mountains (parts of it protected by World Heritage) behind Cascais, if you wish we can provide information and/or contacts to the local walking groups here.

* Fly into Lisbon airport - Cascais is 30 mins from airport . * Faro takes 2 hours 15 mins. * Cheap flights are available through Monarch Airlines or Easyjet (direct ) - or KLM non direct. * We can arrange inexepensive car hire locally if you wish, please email if you need assistance * There is a regular bus service between the airport and Cascais. * We offer complimentary pick up from the local bus stop to the cottage if required * We can arrange a taxi pick up from the airport 24 hours notice required.
