The Algarve / Central Algarve region
Algarve beaches are beautiful, varying from long and wide to private and cozy, set between cliffs. Golfing is very popular in the region, with many courses to choose from. Places worth a visit: Silves, Capital of the Algarve in Moorish times (must visit the Moorish castle) Lagos, founded in Roman times, lovely town and beaches with caves and grottos. Loule, the saturday market is worth a peak.
Carvoeiro / Central Carvoeiro area
Carvoeiro (old fishing village), is a lovely picturesque town with many lovely restaurants/bars to choose from. Close to Carvoeiro is Slide and Splash (known as the best aquatics park in the Algarve), Carvoeiro Tennis Club, Zoomarine (highly recommended also has an aquatic park). Silves is a lovely old town, about 10 minutes drive away worth a visit (also there Fabrica Inglese, an award winning cork factory with entertainment venue). Beaches are fantastic in this area.
How to get there
Easy Jet , Monarch,Jet 2, British Airways, to Faro aeorport, then you can hire a car from the airport (Sixt Auto Renta car is one of many available). Alternatively you can take a taxi (about 60€), the trip takes about 45mins.
