The Algarve / Central Algarve region
The Algarve is the name of the southern coast of Portugal, incorporating, amongst others, the towns of Faro, Lagos, and Sagres. The region's administrative centre is the town of Faro, which has its own international airport.
The Algarve is a popular destination for tourism, primarily because of its clean, warm water beaches, Mediterranean climate, safety and relatively low costs. The length of the south-facing coastline is approximately 155 kilometres. Beyond the westernmost point of Cape St Vincent it stretches a further 50 kilometres to the north. The coastline is notable for picturesque limestone caves and grottoes, particularly around Lagos, which are accessible by powerboat.
Praia da Marinha, Lagoa was classified as one of the 100 most beautiful and well preserved beaches of the world. There are many other beautiful and famous summer places such as Albufeira, Vilamoura, Portimão, Lagos, Armação de Pêra, Quarteira, Monte Gordo and Tavira.
Carvoeiro area
Carvoeiro is a fishing village halfway along the Algarve coast, about 45 minutes from Faro Airport. Over the last 15 years, grown to be a sizeable holiday resort. However, it has not lost the intrinsic charm of the place, as the development has been sympathetically done, keeping to low-rise buildings in the traditional Algarvian style.
This cosmopolitan resort has a wide selection of restaurants and bars, a few night clubs, boutiques, banks, chemist and local facilities.
How to get there

Further details indoors: The main house is totally private and fenced. Approximately 550 sqm comprising of 6/7 bedrooms. 5 of the bedrooms have their bathroom en-suite, the 6th across the corridor. For those looking for something special we have a gallery above the large living room.
In total The 4 Seasons will comfortably sleep up to 14 people. The 2 main bedrooms and the huge living room have their own fire place. In an open annex of the living room we have a small bar area which will become a favourite place for a drink after dinner in front of the fire place. All bedrooms and also the living room have their own TV-set with DVD-player and music centres. The living room and dining room are approximately 150 sqm and allow even the largest families or groups of friends to find some privacy within the house itself. There are quieter areas to sit and read or larger spaces for fun and games.
Neither hot nor cold weather should disturb our guests as we have installed A/C throughout the prominent areas of the house.
In the bathrooms we have provided under floor heating for the cooler nights. Outdoor breakfasts can be enjoyed either on the shaded or open terrace. Both are close to the newly reconstructed and heated free-form swimming pool.
From there or from the dining room you can listen to the birds and watch the animals which like to visit you. The 4 Seasons is set in total privacy in the middle of the estate, surrounded by trees. Just behind the house is the fenced area of 100.000 sqm, where many wild animals live including a large group of deer. You could be led to believe you were on your own private reserve but nevertheless only minutes away from the action of Algarve and the sea.
We can offer you in The 4 Seasons a well sized sauna hut in a hidden area close to the house for your relaxation. This sauna is for your private use only but we have also another traditional sauna within walking distance towards the larger pool in the ancient well area. This may be booked for your private use or shared with the guests from The 4 Winds or Casa Sol. This area is a non smoking area or beauty, but we do supply ashtrays in the properties for guests to use on the balconies.

Wine Tasting & Ancient Well & Animal Farm: Wine Tasting Room: Our new wine tasting area ( Sala de Prova) in the old Wine Adega is now completed. Here we offer to our house guests but also to outside visitors at selected times wine tastings. You are welcomed at the entrance of the Sala de Prova by Bacchus, the god of wine. This nearly 2 m high sculpture has been created already around the year 1650. Ancient Well; Our large and ancient property has many historically interesting places. One of the most interesting is the 40 m deep ancient well, accessible by a staircase which was carved by our ancestors by hand through soil and stone. Around 80 steep steps lead down to the water level. As the old people say, it well may have been discovered by the invading Moors. Animals: The term unspoiled nature is the best description for the nearly 100.000 sqm where we allow the animals to live without interference from us. Large groups of deer and many other type of wildlife use this area peaceful together.
Fruits: Fruits: The year starts with the harvest of oranges and lemons which normally lasts until March. These trees blossom and produce fruit at the same time and the fabulous scent fills the air for much of the early part of the year. February until the end of spring is the best time to enjoy the flowering of the almond trees. In some areas of the Algarve its white and pink blossom shines like snow. In May the first figs are becoming delicious and plums and apricots can be enjoyed from June to September. You are welcome to pick some of these fruits for yourselves. If you would like to take some of them home what better than our delicious marmalade or chutney? See what we have available in our small farm shop. Grape picking is carried out by hand and normally starting in the middle of August and lasting for 3-4 weeks. At selected times we allow our house guests to participate in the harvesting and to view the entire wine making process.
