Home description

The house is set in a rural hillside village seeped with real Italian Culture. The house has a new fitted kitchen that has a small breakfast bar style table for eating meals indoors. There is frontage where you can sit out to eat and, for the cooler nights a fireplace. There are 6 steps up to the main bedroom / spacious lounge with a king sized bed that can be converted to 2 single beds if need be. A further cool sitting room/dressing room leads off the main bedroom and has a single pull out bed suitable for an extra person. The en suite shower room, toilet is situated off the sitting room/dressing room and there is also a small balcony, ideal for drying the beach towels.

The area provides excellent local shops and views with the choice of access to the coast as well as many relaxing walks, quad biking, horse riding and sightseeing around local villages.

Carunchio is a typical Italian hillside village, totally relaxing and tranquil but with everything you need available locally so that you really can get away from the "rat race" of todays consumer society.

The village has a beautiful summit church and a cemetry that includes the resting place of war heros from the village.The surrounding villages are all unique, Palmoli, Torrebuna and others, walks through hillsides and countryside with stunning views are all around the village. There is also a local Parco Naturale where you can eat, drink, try quad biking or learn to horse ride or, if you prefer you can either take the bus down to the coast to enjoy the beach or drive down to the beach and then have a delightful evening in Vasto, the nearby city. On the summit of Carunchio there is a splendid restaurant that serves food on saturday nights, you can also eat in the hotel down in the square. If all you want is a beer and to watch the village go by, then there is a bar in the main village square just a few metres from the house or, a further 2 bars further down in the centre of the village.

How to get there

Ryanair fly to Pescara from London Stansted. The house is approximately 90 mins drive from Pescara.
Easyjet fly to Rome from East Midlands and other UK airports. The house is a 2hr 30 min drive from Rome with Monte Cassino Wargraves en route. Full route directions are available on our website.

Further details indoors:
The kitchen is new with the house maintaining its origonal features and so in someways remains in the rugged style of the village. During the hot season the interior of the house does keep cool, in particular the dressing room, sitting room is especially cool.

Further details outdoors:
The house has an area to the front that is yet to be slabbed. It provides and area where you are able to sit outside in the sunshine. You are able to eat outside. The area is to be enhanced hopefully during the 2008 season so that guests get the best benefit from the holiday apartment. Many of the homes in the village simply front out directly onto the roads therefore this property provides that little extra because of the frontage.

Further details

There is parking in the nearby area along the road side. Food provisions can be supplied for your arrival by Islabella the lady who takes care of the house. Isabella owns the shop which is directly to the left of the house and very useful for picking up fresh pasta and the best home grown produce.

We can arrange to have the beds made up with clean linen for your arrival for a fee of 20 Euros for the week, to be paid directly to Isabella. When you leave the house it should be left tidy, with the rubbish places into the community rubbish facilities around the village. All used linen is to be taken to Isabella for her to wash. Towels can be provided for 10 Euros and the same arrangement applies at the end of your holiday.

To book you may pay a deposit of £50.00 via the paypal account on our website.
The balance of payment is due approx 6 weeks before your holiday.

You should forward a copy of your travel insurance policy with your balance of payment. The property is fully insured however breakages have a £250 excess. Isabella will do an inspection after each guest and any breakages will be referred to the owner. No security deposit is taken we merely ask that if anything is broken, that you replace the broken item or if the breakage/damage is more significant, that you report the loss to us as soon as possible. We will then arrange to find a suitable way of making good any loss by mutual and fair agreement.

We ask that guests do their utmost to be honest so that we may continue to offer the property for holiday let, in good faith so that we do not have to introduce security deposits.

Conditions

The house is not suitable for guests with mobility problems. Some of the doorways are also quite low, therefore you are asked to be cautious when going through doorways. You shoulod be especially cautious when going to and from the kitchen area to the lounge as the doorway here is quite low.

Deposits to book your holiday can be made by Paypal and your final invoice for payment is also requeted by a paypal email invoice. You may also pay by cheque.

If you require the linen service you will need to pay a local fee to the Caretaker and remove the linen and leave for the caretaker. You may also request a welcome pack which will be suppled by the caretaker who you should pay directly. Eg: Eggs, Milk, Fresh Pasta, Peroni, Bottled water.

Basic supplies such as tea, coffee and sugar are at the house.
