The Marche / Abruzzo / Abruzzo region

Come and visit this relatively undiscovered area of Italy, along the adriatic coast, soak in the traditional way of life and breathe in the wonderfully clean air.

Abruzzo lies along the adriatic coast and we are approx 30km from the glorious golden beaches. The beaches are lined with beach bars and restaurants with swings, slides and climbing frames for the young child. The sea side towns have many exquisite fish restaurants.

Skiing is available at several ski resorts. The nearest to us is Roccaraso approx 70km away. It is amongst the most renowned ski resorts in central and southern Italy.

Abruzzo boasts three national parks where you can enjoy nature at its best.

This village and surrounding areas offer its visitors beautiful scenery and irresistible charm with exquisite views of mountains, vineyards, olive groves, woodlands and snow capped mountains.
We are approx 30km from the seaside town of San Salvo and Vasto.

Guestbook

Carunchio 1/07/2006
Our stay at Casa Margherita was one of the most relaxing holidays for many years. The house is perfectly equipped, with lovely views and a great terrace, where we gazed at the stars many nights.
Carunchio is one of the most beautiful villages we have seen in Italy. The people are extremely friendly and helpful, especially Clare who was there with advice and recommendations - at any time during our stay.
AMAZING!!!!!
(We are already planning our next visit!)

Perfect accommodation in a perfect setting.
The village is surrounded by lovely scenery – truly away from all the tourists down near the coast – the people were very welcoming and friendly always with a smile and greeting.
Our holiday has been one of the best ever and we certainly will recommend to our friends.

After staying in the beautiful Casa Margharita last October/November I thought it would be nice to spread the word to other prospective guests.
After finding Peaceful Retreats on the internet we decided to book for a five day get away at the end of October last year, 2007.
The booking itself was a piece of cake, one of the smoothest I have ever experienced. Clare was so helpful with travel routes and directions we found the village of Carunchio without a problem, even at 10.00pm on a blustery wet night!
I am always sceptical about hiring a holiday home, admittedly I know I am hard to please as I enjoy authenticity in a property but I also enjoy being warm and cosy. Casa Margharita ticked all the boxes as it is a BEAUTIFUL traditional village home with the added bonus of feeling as cosy as a 'box of kittens' for the entire stay. It was so lovely to come back from a hard days exploration to this soulful hideaway. I would not be exagerating when i say it felt like the house was giving me a hug!
My husband is more 21st century and therefore was particularly chuffed to find a good selection of DVD'S to chill out to late into the night.
My daughter particularly loved Carunchio. It really is a 'special' little place with quite a few lovely surprises! We found the locals so helpful and very accomodating of our very poor Italian!
We loved the layout of the property and could quite easily have moved in, that's how much it felt like home!
My family and I would love to return to this beautiful house and explore the region during the warmer months of the year and probably will do so quite soon.
Thankyou Clare, we had the most positive Italian experience and I really do feel that was down to you and your unique touches.
See you again soon

We had a great time here.It was really unexpected to be so well provided for. We've never stayed somewhere where there has been so many DVD's,games, bikes etc available to borrow...You're excellent hosts....We've stayed at a lot of self-catering apartments around Europe and this is easily the best. The website didn't do it justice.
We will recommend this place to our friends
All the best
