The Province of Ulster region

The county of Donegal is rich in breathtaking landscapes and seascapes with colours that change their spectrum according to the light.

It is rich in musical, literary and artistic tradition and the visitor will find that the pace of life, and the people of Donegal, will contribute to the feeling that you have 'stepped off the world" for a while - however brief your stay!

Donegal provides a glorious backdrop to sporting, cultural and historical activities but, also, it is the perfect place to walk, read and forget about the world!

Carrick

Peggys' Cottage is approximately two Km from Carrick village and around four Km from Teelin Pier. There are several beaches within a fifteen minute drive of the cottage, one excellent for surfing.

There is a strong fishing history throughout the area and the river Glen is famous for salmon and sea trout.; fishing tends to be very successful both from the rocks and Teelin Pier. Charter boats are also available to hire, as are sight-seeing boats. Diving, kayaking, rowing are activites tradtional to the area and the area is perfect for hill walking and hiking.

Carrick ,Teelin and Kilcar share a number of archaeological, hisorical and heritage sites, the area is also the home of many legendary fiddlers in the Donegal tradition and the best of traditional Irish music can be heard throughout the year in the local pubs. Kilcar and Carrick are also famous for local crafts and handweaving. Ti-Linn is a beautiful craft/gift and coffee shop close to the cottage on the road to the cliffs you will be made very welcome as you enjoy the cultural and historical information and the wonderful crafts on display.

The clock Tower is an award-winning restaurant around thirty minutes from the cottage; the food is wonderful and it is very family-friendly. The world famous Kitty Kellys' restaurant, around fifteen minutes from the cottage promises "a unique Donegal experience" including an after dinner sing-along each weekend!
