The Provence region
Vaucluse is known for beautiful scenery, mountains, fantastic provencal food and famous worldwide for its wine.
Its easy to understand why so many artists settled here, its blessed with amazing light, blue skies and sunshine 300 days of the year!
There are suspended villages, chateaux, roman ruins, local food markets, wine tasting, restaurants, painting and cooking courses, horse riding, cycling, hot air ballooning, rivers, caves and antique markets plus a whole lot more to do and explore. Lots of festivals take place throughout the season in the villages and towns around us, from music and art to theatre and dance
Avignon the old city of the popes is truly beautiful and packed full of exciting adventures and artistic exhibitions. Vaison la Romaine with its roman ruins, Isle sur la Sorgue world famous antique market . Gordes built into a mountain and all the Luberon villages are all within 30 minutes drive from the house
Caromb is situated 25 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Avignon - its a small village at the foot of the Mont Ventoux mountain, wonderfully relaxed with far less tourist, yet within easy reach of all the hotspots. The village dates back to medieval times, inside the old part there are no cars, as the streets are too narrow, perfect for walking around
The house is in the original village, with local shops just a moments walk. There's a boulangerie (bakery), two bistro cafes, two small restaurants, butcher, grocery shops, a bank machine, pharmacy, weekly farmers market and a big wine co-operative...vive la France!

"Great accommodation, in a great area, with great hosts,"
Lovely historic accommodation in charming village. The apartments are spacious and had exactly what we needed. Highly recommended. The hosts were very welcoming and went beyond the norm to be hospitable. We'll revisit (unless everyone else books it up!)

"Centuries of Hospitality.......and the tradition lives on."
We really enjoyed our welcome and our stay with Axelle and Ian which began with sharing a glass of wine, some conversation and a guided tour of the building. It was lovely to sleep within the walls of such a carefully restored old building and feel the 'stories in the stones'......and we loved the space and simple relaxing aesthetic of the apartment, which provided for all our needs very comfortably. The village offered delights with lovely lane ways to walk, historic buildings and wonderful vistas to gaze upon and some delicious pastries too. We had fun touring about on several day trips in the region with the assistance of the good local knowledge shared by our hosts.....a lovely chapter in in our travel adventure in Europe!

"Experience of a life time!"
The hosts made us feel like family. The place although rustic and secluded was very intresting and chic in many ways. We highly recommend a car to be able to go to the diffrent towns in provence. if travelling during low season don't expect for a lot to be open. Is important to watch for the opening and closing hours of stores and restaurants. Great towns to go to: La Vaision de la Romaine, Avignon,L'Isle Sur-la-Sorgue,Crillon-le Brave, Ventoux Mountain,Gordes, among others. Perfect way for real quality time with your family!
Thank you Maria, Luis & Family for this kind review, From the first moment to the last, each of you were fantastic guests, we"re so happy you enjoyed your experience here. Your review is also perfect advice for anyone thinking of coming to Provence in winter. a&i

We stayed for twelve days in August 2013. The apartment was clean and the king size bed was very comfortable. Free wireless internet was great and the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals. We really enjoyed being in such a spacious apartment within an amazing building! The apartment is well equipped and very artistic, we used it as our home while in Provence, it's a short drive to Avignon, Carpentras, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Luberon and all the other lovely Provencal locations. The rental was very good value for money, but the friendliness and help of Axelle & Ian was beyond price.
Thank you so much for your nice review. We're really happy you enjoyed the apartment/house and Provence, you're both always welcome at our house... Axelle et Ian

"Peace haven in Provence"
So inspiring and creative! Axelle and Ian warmly welcomed me and were enthusiastic about sharing all the secrets of the house. It's a perfect place to getaway from city life, it's quiet and peaceful with beautiful nature surrounding. There is an open space with ongoing workshops, cultural events and apart from the usual sightseeing I could partake with the local artistic community activities. I felt very much at home and look forwards to going back as soon as possible!
Hi Laurence, Thank you so much for this lovely review. We hope to see you back soon Axelle et Ian
