About the home
Situated just five minutes from the promenade in the lovely coastal resort of Arnside, this property is a stone-built detached dormer-bungalow that has been lovingly refurbished to provide light and airy accommodation. The spacious rear garden offers excellent al fresco dining opportunities, as well as a place to relax during the day with a good book and a glass of something cold. The cottage is well served by the local amenities in Arnside itself, however for more specialist shops Grange-over-Sands is easily accessible by the local railway service.

The Cumbria/Lake District region
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes – the Lake District landscape has inspired several literary greats, including William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter. Water, where you can cruise the lake on a steam-powered yacht soaking up the scenery in Victorian style, could be for you. Walking is one of the best ways of exploring the Lake District.
For the serious walker the mountains of Skiddaw, Scafell and Helvellyn provide enjoyable challenges, whilst at lower levels there are hundreds of routes wandering among the lakes and stone-walled fields. You can even choose a lake to suit your mood: if bustling lakeside towns and exhilarating watersports take your fancy, then Windermere and Coniston Water, where you can cruise the lake on a steam-powered yacht soaking up the scenery in Victorian style, could be for you. If it’s peace and tranquility you seek then the secluded lakes of Buttermere and Wastwater are not to be missed.
Yet Cumbria offers much more than the lakes alone. Explore the National Nature Reserve on Walney Island or visit the picturesque Duddon Valley, where the heather clad moors peppered with birch trees inspired many of Wordsworth’s poems. With its award-winning gardens and the Lakeland Motor Museum, Holker Hall is also a great day out, whilst in northern Cumbria the peaceful villages of Caldbeck and Ireby offer a haven of solitude and picturesque tranquility.
To the east lies the green and sheltered Eden Valley. Its dramatic landscape provides a range of activities including walking, cycling and watersports and is home to the Lakeland Bird of Prey Centre and Lowther Wildlife Park, perfect for a family day out
The Carnforth / Arnside area
Situated on the southernmost tip of the Lake District in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the village of Arnside. The surrounding land is characterised by low limestone hills, marshy plains and deciduous woodlands, making this an interesting scenic backdrop for a walking or cycling holiday. Having retained many of the features from its past, this former fishing port still possesses a beautiful pier and port area with stunning views across the Kent Estuary. The 15th Century Peel Towers lie to the south of the village and were constructed to defend the settlement against the marauding Scots. Stunning limestone pavements as well as wonderful woodland walks through countryside alive with rare plants, trees and wildlife makes this a nature lover's paradise. In addition, the Leighton Moss RSPB Reserve is also just one mile away and presents excellent bird-watching opportunities.

Guestbook for 1909 - Rowan Bank
Lots of nice scenic views, tours and walks. It was the first time we had taken the dog on holiday. We were worried about how he would be away from home, but all his needs were well catered for. It was a lovely surprise to find milk and wine in the fridge and teabags in the cupboard when we got there. I have already told two interested parties about the property and for them to look for Sykes holidays on the web.
