We almost didn't make it to our mini break as our car broke down en route, however, although arriving several hours later than intended we were so pleased to have got there! The lodge itself was lovely, modern and comfortable. The views of the onsite lake and fells beyond were lovely. We could watch waders and water birds taking off, landing and swimming on the water. The site was quiet, peaceful and although the weather was somewhat to be desired, our whole break was relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. We were really grateful to the owners for accommodating us with our pet cat, who, after patrolling the lodge several times; checking out all the rooms and enjoying being able to look easily out of the low windows, quickly made herself comfortable lying on the carpet in front of the fire! We were also really pleased with small touches such as kit kats which the owners had left for us in the fridge and some strawberry jam! |
