Home description

Being a rather large house, La Bardane has been split into 2 spacious apartments completely independent of each other. Cote Murier, surrounded by Mulberry trees, looks out onto the surrounding vineyards, countryside and garden. Fully equipped with all mod cons, it should have everything you need to make your stay as relaxing as possible. We have recently added air conditioning to the main rooms and bedrooms.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Gard region

Carnas is situated in what is known as the Piedmont Cevennol, the hilly country between the Mediterranean and the Cevennes mountains. Largely dedicated to vineyards, it produces numerous little vintages which you can taste in every village. Steeped in history, this part of France has been one of the longest inhabited and there are plenty of sites to visit dating from Roman times or before (see our website for more complete information). From the mining museum in Ales to the Silk museum in Durfort or the Roman Arena in Nimes, history surrounds you. There are also quite a few caves to visit, welcoming refuge from the midday heat and breathtaking too, the Grotte des Demoiselles being the most famous and the closest one. Closer to the sea there is the Camargue National Park with hundred of protected bird species, horses and bulls.

Carnas area

Carnas is a very small quiet village with just a church, a baker and , of course, a wine cooperative offering pretty decent local produce. The summer is the time when all villages have their "fetes" so within a radius of 10 miles you are sure to find something to do in the evenings, from fun fairs to bull chasing and dancing or simply sitting at a cafe and watch it all happening. During the day, there's canoeing, walking, sailing etc.. or simply lying on the beach or by the side of the pool. We try to keep a list of all festival up to date at the house.

How to get there

Fly to Nimes or Montpellier (Ryanair / British Airways) then drive to Carnas (35kms). It is also possible to use Marseilles airport (Ryanair/EasyJet/British Airways) which is 1.30hr away from Nimes as there are more flights to Marseilles.
Remember, the earliest you book your flights, the better the price.

Further details indoors:
Cote Muriers has a large lounge/dining area (40m2) with a large open fireplace and spacious sofa. One corner of the room has been set aside for the kitchen area and is equipped with everything you will need, from dishwasher to microwave. There are two bedrooms with double beds (1 is queensize) and one bedroom with two single beds. The large bathroom has a full length bath (with shower attachment). There is air conditioning in the main room and for the bedrooms as well although the bedrooms face north and are on the shaded side of the house, it can provide added comfort for those who do not cope well with the warmth of the southern sun.
Sheets and towels are provided free of charge as weel as house linen.

Further details outdoors:
La Bardane is surrounded by a large mature garden with plenty of shaded spots to snooze in and large grassed over areas for the children to play in. There is also a set of swings available. You will find a large table and chairs on the patio allowing you to enjoy you meals outside as well as a BBQ. Sun beds are available around the pool. The pool (10mx5m) is fully enclosed and equipped with auto-closing gates to keep younger children safe.

Conditions

During high season (July/August) change over days are normally Saturdays. Any other months change over days are flexible, please enquire for availability.
The house can be booked as a whole (up to 13 people) at a special rate, please contact us for tariffs or check our website.
