The Cumbria/Lake District

The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery. This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits. The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family. The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base. Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.

Bleatarn Park Holiday Cottages are directly next to Hadrian's Wall. Opening in June 2012 the collection of barns have just been fully renovated and now form part of the farm, a listed building where the owners live. Being so close to this historic site means you have exclusive access to the path that follows the wall, the tarn which gives the farm its name and the animals which form part of the owners working farm. The rolling farmland stretched for acres and acres yet is only 15 minutes away from the M6, giving great access to both Scotland and the Lake District. The small hamlet of Irthington lies by the river Irthing and is approximately two and half miles away from the town of Brampton where you'll find St Martin's Church, famous for its stained glass windows and a Tourist Information Centre, perfect for planning your days out from Beatarn Park. There are also a number of shops and pubs in the town as well as a weekly market and access to the beautiful Talkin Tarn Country Park where you can fish, cycle or walk. With direct access to Hadrian's Wall Path you can explore the many fortresses along its route without the need for a car. The path stretches for some 84 miles and offers an array of scenery from the grazing uplands to the salt marshes of the Solway Estuary. The stunning Lake District is a mere 40 minutes drive with endless walks, mountain biking tracks, fishing venues and attractions to discover. Carlisle, ‘The Gateway to Scotland' is within seven miles or leave the car at home and discover ‘Walby Farm Park, a wonderful attraction for children within walking distance.
