Carisbrooke area
Geographically located in the centre of the Island, Newport is its princi-pal town and main shopping centre. Located next to the Medina River, Newport was once a busy port until the mid-19th century, but has now been mainly converted into a 'cosmopolitan style' town consisting of art galeries, apartments and other stylish meeting places.
