About the home

This 1 bedroomed property, newly renovated in the style expected of a French country house. There is a large character bathroom & a fully equipped kitchen Outside there is a traditional barbecue with an assortment of garden furniture ready to fulfil any method of relaxation. The position of the house makes it ideal for walking, cycling & sightseeing. There is a bar & shop in the village, which is within easy walking distance. Locally is the little bustling town of Gorron which has plenty of bars, restaurants, shops & sports facilities. Situated close to the boarder of Brittany & Normandy the beaches are approx 1.5 hrs drive away. as is the more sophisticated spa town of Bagnoles de Orne with it's popular casino

The Loire Valley / Mayenne region

The Mayenne area is an area of gently undulating countryside with long quiet country lanes which are ideal for walking, biking & fishing. There are many chateaux to visit locally. Only a few kilometres away are the famous jardins des Renaudies. Many of the local towns have bustling markets & of course there are many festivals & velo races

The Carelles area

Carelles is a very pretty hamlet set in the lovely Mayenne countryside. You can enjoy fantastic views and a peaceful atmosphere. There is an events schedule organised by the local tourist office and this will be available on arrival so that you can make the most of all that the hamlet has to offer.

“Beautiful gite in beautiful surroundings. Peaceful & relaxing - bliss!” Absolutely loved Le Tay! The owners, June & Garry, were so welcoming and helpful and very relaxed. We felt it was extremely good value. The weather was beautiful, even in September, which allowed us to enjoy the pretty (and private) garden. There were apple and plums trees growing which we were allowed to help ourselves to, and 5 rather entertaining free range hens - their eggs were delicious! Lovely welcome basket on arrival which saw us through the first night, then we visited the local supermarket which is just a 15 minute or so drive, and stocked up on croissants, wine, cheese, mussels, baguettes... and enjoyed some rustic French country living for the week! Also visited a nearby market which is held on Wednesdays and got some lovely, cheap cheeses. We hope to stay again, perhaps in the winter, where you could go for long winter walks in the surrouding farm land, then snuggle up in front of the log-fire with some wine and watch a film :-) This place is just a peaceful haven - ideal for couples looking for some peace and quiet and having a taste of French living.
