One of a pair of beautifully furnished gites providing home from home accommodation in a courtyard shared with the owners situated in just over two acres of beautiful open countrysidewith small stream running through land.
Barbecue on arrival after your journey so you can relax and unwind at the start of your holiday. Dont fancy cooking then the owner is quite happy to prepare a meal for you at a small cost. Ideal for either families or a quiet retreat. Large garden with children's activities including large above ground pool plus many other outdoor activities. Separate flower garden and additional quiet area in the orchard with picnic tables.
Bikes included for your use plus if you want to borrow tennis rackets you are quite welcome to do so. Wifi available.

The Loire Valley / Mayenne region
The climate in this area is considerably warmer than the UK with long hot Summers and warm Springs and Autumns. The beautiful city of Fougeres with fortified chateau is situated 20 kms away as is the swimming lake which is located in a beautiful forest with cycle tracks, walks and keep fit activities. Mont St Michel is approx. an hours drive away. Inside the Abbey is well worth a visit and guided tours in all languages are available. Pontmain with its beautiful cathedral is situated approx 15 kms away. Jardin des Renaudies is a beautiful garden situated a five minute drive away from the property. There are two chateaux situated 10 mins drive away from La Grande Gennerie, one of which is open to the public. There is an abundance of history in this area with beautiful cities situated on the banks of the Rivers such as Laval, Mayenne, Vitre all with Medieval history. There are many beautiful gardens in the area to visit plus zoos, children's theme parks with water slides. This year we have been trying out various attractions so will be able to help you with your choices as there are so many things to see and do. At the house we have a box with leaflets showing various activities for all ages. We have found some excellent tree walking locations in this area ideal from 5yrs to adult. Walking, Cycling and fishing are fabulous in this area. Excellent golf course 30 mins away.
Carelles area
The Mayenne area is an area of gently undulating countryside with long quiet country lanes which are ideal for walking, biking and fishing. There are many chateaux to visit locally at Levare, Fougeres, Laval, Mayenne, Chateau du Goue. The village has a little shop adjoining the bar/shop/restaurant where you can get everything. The food in the restaurant is good but mainly open lunchtimes. Sample the culinary delights at either Sous Carelles or the Ferme Auberge both very different but an excellent night out and just five minutes drive away. The Jardins des Renaudies is situated five minutes down the road at Colombiers du Plessis and have a full itinerary of activities for the summer organised through the Mayenne tourist board. Fishing is a big activity in this area with matches being organised regularly locally. There is a fete in the village the first weekend in July each year which is a fabulous day and evening out with cabaret. At St Hilaire du Harcourt on 14th July there are large celebrations. Children's activities are in abundance in this area and this year during June and possibly after that in Levare there are organised bike rides for the family. Bikes are available from the owners. During July and August there are medieval spectaculars a short drive away. All in all it has a little bit of everything so you can be as lazy or as active as you want. We have done lots of exploring this year of the attractions and have found wire walking through the woods above the trees for everyone, minature boats on the lake and many more things. This area is well worth a visit and as all of my guests this year have stated it is far cheaper than the UK but there is so much to see and in a week you only scratch the surface.

There are also cheap flights from the South coast to Dinard and Nantes from Bournemouth and Bristol. www.ryanair.co.uk New cheap flights from Manchester to Rennes - 30 mins away . www.flybe.co.uk Cheap ferries from Portsmouth to Le Havre - www.ldlines.co.uk - 2 hours away LD Lines now operating from Le Havre to Newhaven from 1st May 2007 There is a new ferry company which is something to do with LD Lines I think going from Ireland to Cherbourg and LD Lines have a new Fastcraft coming Portsmouth to Le Havre.
LD lines now operating a ferry sailing at the weekend from Rosslare to Le Havre. LD Lines are trying to improve their routes all the time so check on prices and routes. Also it is cheaper if you book further in advance as the price increases on demand. New ferry company - Celtic ferries coming from Portsmouth to Cherbourg Ferries from Portsmouth/Poole to Caen, St Malo - 1.5 hours away www.brittanyferries.co.uk The train can also be caught to Laval from the UK which is 40 mins away.

Further details indoors: Comfortably and tastefully furnished with traditional and modern furnishings. There is a downstairs shower room, toilet which can be made available should you have someone in your party who is unable to climb the stairs. This property also has a double sofa bed. This has not been adapted specifically for wheelchair users but for someone with some mobility it is possible. If both houses are rented out a further shower/toilet is available between the two houses. Totalling 3 shower rooms and toilets when both houses let together.
Home produce available from the large vegetable garden as are home cooking and preserves.

We are unable to take animals as we have our own horse, dog and two cats who are all very good with children and spend most of the day just lounging around in the sun outside.
Further details outdoors: Large garden which is shared with the owner and contains children's swings, trampoline, children's house plus separate large rose garden with lawn, picnic table on the lawns in two separate areas one by the fruit trees and vegetable garden the other on the large lawn in front of the gite window. Large tarmaced courtyard where basketball, tennis and table tennis can be played plus adequate room for parking. Land extends to just over two acres with small stream running through the land. Situated in the countryside which is ideal for biking, walking and relaxing. Bikes and outdoor sports available. All the areas have ramps so are suitable for wheelchair users.

Various gardens are shared with the owners of the house but there is adequate space for privacy to be retained. Unfortunately no pets allowed as we have our own dog, 2 cats and a horse and the french neighbours also have a dog, cows and chickens. Fishing can be arranged locally. Swimming pool only available July & August. Barbecue on arrival. Welcome Pack with locally produced items. Some home cooking available plus confitures and veg from the garden available for purchase when in season and available.
