Llanvithyn Cottage is a 150 year old barn, converted from the stone out buildings for Llanvithyn House, a former fortified medieval house and a site of significant historic importance having reputedly been the location of the 5th Century Llancarfan Monastery.
The spacious and exceptionally comfortable 4* graded accommodation boasts flagstone and pitch pine floors, exposed stone walls, vaulted ceilings with original beams, wood burning stove and quality furnishings throughout. Situated in the heart of the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan, the property is surrounded by unspoilt countryside and enjoys uninterrupted views down the Llancarfan Valley and across the Bristol Channel towards Somerset.
The property is ideally situated for walkers lying at the intersection of several public footpaths, and is a perfect base for cycling and horse riding, with many miles of country lanes and local villages to explore.

Llanvithyn Cottage is nestled in the heart of the Vale of Glamorgan countryside on the outskirts of the historic village of Llancarfan.
There are a wealth of pretty villages and historic inns to explore in the surrounding area and the dramatic Heritage Coastline together with the beautiful beaches of the Gower and West Wales are all easily accessible.
Cardiff area
Historical places of interest eg.castles at Cardiff, Caerphilly and Castell Coch. Market town of Cowbridge 10 minutes drive with its many Inns, wine bars, reataurants and boutiques.
Concerts and sporting events at the Millenium Stadium, Cardiff International Arena, the Millenium Centre and St Davids Centre in Cardiff (15 mins), and The Liberty Stadium, Swansea, (40 mins).
Numerous golf courses within easy reach eg. The Vale, Royal Porthcawl, The Celtic Manor (location for the Ryder Cup), The Rolls of Monmouth and Cottrell Park. Horse riding available within the village and along the sands at Merthyr Mawr by arrangement.
Fishing both lake and sea. Chepstow and Cheltenham Racecourse approx one hour drive.

The accommodation comprises a large open plan fully equipped kitchen and dining area, separate lounge/snug with leather settees and a wood burning stove, bathroom, bedroom one (2 single beds), and Master Bedroom (double bed), with access to Crag Loft (ie. attic bedroom with limited head space accessed via alternate tread staircase suitable for 2 children aged over 5).
Further details outdoors: The Cottage enjoys far ranging views towards the Bristol channel and beyond. Shared courtyard to the front of the property, and a private decked terrace to the side leading to lawned areas bisected by a pretty stream.
Whilst the setting offers splendid isolation, the pretty village of Llancarfan with its award winning country pub is within walking distance, the historical market town of Cowbridge, (renowned for its boutiques, pubs, wine bars and restaurants lies a short drive to the West), and the many attractions of Cardiff City Centre together with the bars and eateries of Cardiff Bay are only 15 minutes away.
Similarly Llantwit Major and the beaches of the Heritage Coast, the Gower and West Wales are all within easy reach.
