The 18th century 2 double bedroomed farm cottage of Millepetit has been renovated with all modern comforts (including free Wifi internet access) and is situated on a small working arable farm right on the banks of the famously picturesque Canal du Midi. This makes Millepetit an ideal opportunity to sample rural life, yet it is still close to the Mediterranean beaches, mountains, history, culture and many visitor attractions in the area of Carcassonne. We would highly recommend your own form of transport to truly profit and maximise your enjoyment of this beautiful part of France. The small town of Trebes is a lovely 3km walk or bike-ride along the canal towpath, for all your necessities.

There is a terrace immediately outside your front door with a teak-wood table, chairs and BBQ - the terrace is shaded by a beautiful vine and overlooks the canal. There are also two more canal-side terraces (also with tables, chairs and parasol), these are also perfect for watching the boats pass, relaxing after a days exploring and enjoying a glass of French wine or a meal.
The gite owners' garden on the opposite bank of the canal is also available for your use. It is very large and is planted with fruit and olive trees to create shade and also a pergola, table, chairs and sun-loungers. It is private and looks over beautiful stretches of vineyards with the Alaric mountains just beyond.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region
Once the heart of Cathar country, this region is full of history and interest. The Cité of Carcassonne (less than 15 minutes drive from the gite) was once one of the centres for the Cathars and still exists today, featuring in Kate Mosse's book of Labyrinth. There are numerous Cathar castles within an easy drive. There is also the famous village of Rennes le Chateau which inspired tales such as The Di Vinci Code. There are several Meditteranean beaches within 45 minutes drive and the mountains of the Pyrenees can be reached in a little over an hour for walking, climbing, mountain biking and winter skiing. The area is known for being the sunniest in France.

A small town which has both the River Aude and the Canal du Midi flowing through it and a canal port at the centre of the town. You will also find:
