Shop in the wine museum selling an extensive range of local artisan produce, fruits, vegetables and eggs.15 mins from the famous, historic old Cite of Carcassonne. 5 mins from airport, canal du Midi, Cathar Castles and Abbeys.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region

The Languedoc-Roussillon is one of the most fascinating areas of Europe, bordering the Mediterranean Sea to the east and the Pyrenees Mountains to the south.It benefits from an exceptional climate, has an unusually rich wildlife, a spectacular coast and a surprising history.

It processes a number of World Heritage sites, including Carcassonne, the Canal du Midi and the Pont du Gard. Places of interest include mountains, rivers and lakes, cities towns and villages, thermal springs, abbeys, cathedrals and the famous mountain fortresses known as Cathar Castles.

In recent years it has become a popular French holiday location with long sunny days and Med beaches.

The Carcassonne / Arzens area

Carcassonne is a fortified French town in the Aude department in the former provence of Languedoc.It is separated into the famous Cite de Carcassonne and the more expansive lower city, the villa basse.It is the centre of the major AOC wine growing region but a major part of its income comes from the tourism visits to the old Cite and boat cruising on the Canal du Midi.

Carcasonne was the starting point for a stage in the 2004 Tour de France and a stage finish in the 2006 Tour.
Rugby union is very popular as is rugby league.
