For everything from food to jewellery, visit one of the many local markets - Carcassonne, Limoux, Narbonne, Mirepoix. The are many good restaurants in the area. For a reasonable priced meal, we can recommend La Courtine located at 4 Place Marcou, La Cité, Carcassonne and for something special Domaine Gayda 11300 Brugairolles and A la Prise d’Alzeau near Lacombe.

Markets are held twice weekly and there is a beach within Carcassonne. Narbonne, Cap D'age Perpignan beaches are about 1hour away. We are situated at the foothills of the black mountains, nearby the famous Rennes les Bains spa, river and swimming area and Rennes le Chateau- the holy grail. Tolouse is 1 hr away by car or train. Blanquette Limoux (a sparkling white wine) originates in this area and was made by the monks of St Hilaire. Golf, horseriding, canoeing, kyakiing are available locally.

Just to the south is the St Hilaire Abbey. It is a little known fact that the ingenious St Hilaire monks

created "bubbly" (also known as Blanquette) long before Dom Perignon and his colleagues in Champagne.

Those who want to visit the caves and sample the "fruits of the vine" can do so in Limoux.

"Relaxing simplicity - beautiful view - characterful property"

Absolutely beautiful old character property with amazing views over the countryside. Much larger than it originally appears. In the middle of Preixan but feels very private due to high walls around garden. Pool overlooking views. Fantastic local restaurant and good local small supermarket. The owner was incredibly helpful and the local staff who look after the property were very friendly. Would definitely recommend this property. Stayed there for a week and it was very relaxing.

Thank you so much for your kind comments so glad you enjoyed your stay. Hope to see you again
