Home description
We are a norwegian family who would like to welcome you into our country house, near Carcassonne. Maison Tranquille provides accommodation for 2-15 peoples, if you like to be caterd for and don't think about the cleaning thats an option. 15 km from Mirepoix, 30 km from Carcassonne.
There are five en suite bedrooms which are air-conditioned. Each bedroom also has a comfortable sitting area where you can relax. On the mezzanine, you will find tea and coffee making facilities.. There is two sitting rooms with comfortable seating and there is a dining room with a large table, seating up to sixteen people. Large terrasse with severals upertunitys for relaxing, reading or eating outside.
...south-facing garden who is well stocked with lavender, palms, olive trees and other mediterranean plants; a pond, and plenty of space to enjoy a leisurely stroll or just to sit and enjoy the surroundings. For a longer walk there is a lot of paths in the area. . If you prefer other sports, we also have a petanque pitch.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region

Carcassonne / Escueillens area
The Aude is one of the departments in Languedoc-Roussillon . Other than the Mediterranean beaches and resorts it's a relatively undiscovered vacation destination. Carcassonne with the old medieval fortress ‘La Cité’ og Canal du Midi are both a world Heritage site. Enjoy the incredible variety of wine, visit cellars to discovers tastes. Carcassonne Golf club, 18-hole golf course, practice, clubhouse, equipment hire. Several Castles and Abbeys. Museums, the museums of the Aude, there are the heirs of our long history, of our culture, our traditions, and also the place to discover our nature, our flora and our fauna. Nature & discovery. Lagoon areas, Pyrénées summits, thikh forests, canyons and cavities.. the climatic and landscaped diversity of Aude nature is there for the visitor who takes the troble to slacken the pace. But to discover nature, also means the pleasure of approaching the animals the local or exotic fauna, via individuel visits to parks and farms. Fishing is another populaire sport here in Aude. The Lake of ‘La Cavayère’ is a perfect place to spend the day, picnic tables are at your disposal. Towns and Villages of the Aude, foremost, are the towns of Carcassonne, Narbonne, Castelnaudary, Lézignan, Limoux and Quillan, but there is a multitude of tiny, authentic villages, each in theire own way, demonstrating the diversity of the Aude, circulades, flower dekked villages, classified villages… Longing for calm, rest relaxtion problems? Thermal cures are a very old tradition in the Aude, perpetuated today by two well known and recognized spas: Rennes-les-Bains and Alet-les-Bains. What you won't find are wall to wall crowds. July and August see populations soar as vacationers arrive but the rest of the year you can go for days and not see another obvious tourist. You'll be hard pressed to find tee shirts and ball caps except in the coastal tourist towns and in Carcassonne. The villages are small. The people are friendly. They're always interested in where you come from and why you came to the Aude. Not many speak English but all are willing to bear with any attempt to communicate in French. You can have as busy or as relaxed a holiday as you choose. Montpellier and Perpignan to the east and Toulouse to the west are large cities and only about 90 minutes away.

Cheap flights available from Ryanair.com from Stansted, East midland, Liverpool, Shannon, Dublin, Brussel to Carcassonne ( or Perpignan) who has several car rentals, or we provide a pick up service. There is one bedroom who is wheelchaire accessible, but there is stairs going down to the garden and the swimming pool. We take bookings for smaller groups B&B or big groups as a gite., suitable for uptil 12 adults. We do specials anniversarys, weddingpartys etc.
