Your French 'home-away-from-home' is situated within the historic Bastide area of Carcassonne. Inside the converted 200 year old building, you will find a haven of comfortable quiet living space, with a modern interior and newly decorated rooms. This town-centre apartment has the unusual added benefit of a spacious private outdoor courtyard.

Step outside the front door and find yourself surrounded by a vibrant French town full of history, culture and friendly people. Everything you need is close by, but this is also a great location from which to explore the wider area.

A short walk across the river Aude you find the impressive medieval Citadel (Walled City) which is one of France’s most famous national monuments and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Citadel provides spectacular views of the surrounding Aude countryside and a chance to surround yourself with living history.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region

Carcassonne area

Carcassonne is ideally situated to explore the diverse attractions nearby. It is only a short train or car journey to the bustling city of Toulouse, an hour from the coast, and approx. 2 hours drive to Barcelona. Surrounded by mountains, the Pyrenees and Black mountains are easily reachable for winter sports. How to get there

Fly with Ryanair to Carcassonne direct from a number of UK, Ireland and European airports. The connection is a 5-10 minute bus or taxi ride in Carcassonne (approx €10 taxi fare) so your holiday can begin immediately. Go to www.Ryanair.com

Cacassonne can also be reached easily by train or car. Cars can be hired at the airport or SNCF station for good daily or weekly rates. However, a car is not essential for a holiday in Carcassonne as there is so much to see and do on your doorstep.

All rooms newly decorated and furnished (Spring 2008). Apartment comprises a double bedroom, lounge, large bathroom with bath and shower, compact kitchen leading into spacious dining area and double doors to rear garden. All rooms have double glazed windows and electric heaters. Tiled floors keep the interior cool and a large palm tree in the garden provides shade for sitting outside. An assortment of books and games are available to borrow plus an ipod compatible music system (plug and play) and a radio. Sheets and towels, tea towels and a hairdryer are provided. A guide to local shops, attractions, maps and useful contacts is also provided so everything you need for your holiday is ready and waiting : )

Further details outdoors:
The 40sq metre garden includes a large red brick paved area with outdoor seating (chairs, table and a bench) perfect for sitting or eating outside. A large palm tree provides shade for sitting outside in the heat of the day, and the shelter of surrounding buildings provides a lovely quiet and secluded spot for the evenings. Due to the peaceful residental area we ask that guests keep noise to a reasonable level.

Further details

Smokers can smoke in the back courtyard, but not inside the apartment please. A highchair and cot are available on request. Week long stays (Sunday to Sunday) are ideal and allow visitors to enjoy the Saturday market in Carcassonne. Where no weekly bookings have been made, shorter or longer stays will be considered. NB: Prices may be subject to change at the owner's discretion.

Rates for Summer 2008 are £375 or €475 for 1 week (7 nights). The rate is the same for 2 or 4 people and there are NO CLEANING CHARGES. Prices have increased very slightly for 2009 due to higher running costs and utility bills.

This price includes all costs for cleaning and laundry (sheets and towels for up to 4 people) and electricity, heating, gas for the BBQ etc. A refundable security deposit is required, but no other costs will fall to the rentor.

Low season will being in late October and run through to April 2009. Rates on enquiry.
