Home description
The house is a period, french townhouse overlooking the Canal du Midi, which fows through the town of Carcassonne in the Languedoc area of south west France. There are plenty of activities for a relaxing holiday in the town of Carcassonne with its shops, cafes, restaurants, markets, and the medieval cite is a world renowned UNESCO heritage site. The house is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding region with the stunning scenery of the Pyrenees, Montagnes Noires, Cathar castles and famous vineyards for winetasting enthusiasts. There are opportunities for walking, cycling or just relaxing. The house is approx. 45 minutes from the coast.
The house has 3 bedrooms (each with double bed), a fully fitted kitchen and a large open plan dining and sitting area. There is also a small, pretty, walled garden with table and chairs for sitting out or dining al fresco. There is a downstairs toilet, a bathroom on the second floor and each bedroom has en suite facilities.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region
Enjoyable places to visit are Lagrasse with its beautiful abbey, Mirepoix for its medieval architecture, Cathar castles at Renne Le Chateau, Lastours and Saissac. Wine enthusiasts can indulge thier passion by visiting the many Domaines of this important wine producing area and detailed information can be provided if this is your interest. A wonderful day out can be made by a scenic journey by train to the beautiful seaside resort of Collioure. These are but a few of the delights of this delightful region.
Carcassonne area
Carcassonne has a range of festivals, the Spanish Festival end of August, the Festival du Cite during July, and other cultural events are put on from time to time. A vist to Le Cite is a must and can be walked to from the house. Bicycles can be hired locally. Boat trips are available along the Canal du Midi and there are lovely gardens to walk/stroll in by the river Aude with its fabulous view of the Cite as a backdrop. Carcassonne is a great place for shopping, visiting churches/ museums, or just people watching over a coffee in one of the cafes/restaurants in the town.
How to get there
The house is located ten minutes from Carcassonne airport, a distance of 2 km. Ryanair flights operate from liverpool, East Midlands, Stanstead, Dublin, Shannon, Cork and Brussels (Charlerois).
Car hire is available at Carcassonne airport (Hertz/Europcar).
If travelling by train, the house is a ten minute walk from the railway station.

Bedroom B - first floor with balcony overlooking garden, ensuite with bath/shower and washbasin, built-in cupboard for clothes and storage;
Bedroom C - second floor, view of canal, has ensuite toilet and wash basin, large double wardrobe for clothes and storage;
Bathroom on second floor with bath/shower, toilet, wash basin and bidet.
There is a downstairs toilet.
The kitchen is fully fitted, oven and hob for cooking,with full supply of cutlery, crockery, cooking pansand dishes, offering full self catering facilities.
The dining area has a dining table for 6 people and a dresser for storage. The seating area overlooking the garden is pleasant and comfortable with a sofa and armchairs to seat 6 people. There are parking spaces opposite the house.
Further details outdoors: As well as the garden, there is a very pleasant walk from outside the house alongside the Canal du Midi towards the station to the lively canal basin where it is possible to walk/sit and watch canal boat activities. You can also take a trip along the canal from this area. It is a minute's walk from the house to excellent boulangeries to buy your morning baguettes and croissants!

The house is not set up to be suitable for children under 10, and there is a strictly no smoking policy. We regret that pets are not acceptable either.
Conditions
A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total rental will secure your reservation, the balance is due 8 weeks before the start of the holiday.
Our changeover is from 4.00 p.m. on Saturday and runs to 10.00a.m. the folowing Saturday. Outside of the high season, if bookings allow, It may be possible to arrange an alternative arrival/departure day or shorter breaks. A refundable security deposit of £150 is required.
