Le Loft Place Carnot
Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2
Perfectly situated Top Floor apartment in the heart Carcassonne's old town, Bastide St Louis. The apartment building is located on the square in Place Carnot. Our apartment benefits from all the hustle and bustle of the square, weekly markets, shops and alfresco dining, with very little noise from the square. The property dates from the 1730's, consequently, like other buidlings in the Bastide area no lift. The apartment hosts an eclectic mix of furniture and commissioned art works.
The following facilities are available: nternet/WiFi; ipod/ipad radio/dock charger; bed linen and towels; hairdryer; iron and board; hob (no oven); microwave; kitchen utensils; toaster; kettle; crockery and flat ware; fridge with freezer compartment.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region
Inundated with rich history, the Aude has long been a place of interrest for the gourmet, the historian, and traveller alike. Restaurants are teeming with local specialities such as Foie-Gras, Cassoulet, wild mushrooms and of course the selection of cheeses that are complimented by a wide array of regional wines are found hidden away in the towns dotted around.
The history of the Aude is another example of a historian's dream where religions, royalty and the local people have clashed over centuries leaving a unique culture and landscape filled with castles, walled towns, churches and towering cathedrals speckled about just waiting to be discovered...Carcassonne is at the heart of the Aude region, with all the amenities you would need for a great family holiday. If you enjoy culture there are two World Heritage sites (the Cité and the Canal du Midi) and you are surrounded by medieval and Cathar history with numerous castles and fortifications. If you prefer an active holiday there is walking in the Corbières Hills, golf, horse riding, cycling or swimming and windsurfing. There are two adults bikes at the villa for you to use.
Situated within easy driving distance of the Mediterranean, Pyrenees, Spain and Andorra and within easy reach of Toulouse, Narbonne and Béziers, the Carcassonne area is the ideal location to base your holiday.
Carcassonne is not only the sunniest place in France it is one the most sought after holiday destinations.
Pyrenees for skiing in the winter or hiking in the summer. 50km north of Carcassonne is the south-west edge of the Parc Naturel Regional du Haut Languedoc, represented by the Montagne Noire (Black Mountains), providing scenic drives and challenging hiking terrain.
Visit the medieval city of Carcassonne on foot. Witness the Cité Festival in July/August, witness the magnificent Bastille Day fireworks extravaganza of 14th July. Discover the surrounding countryside: the Canal du Midi, the Parc Australien, the Eagles of the Cité (largest collection of birds of prey in Europe), the Accrobranches park and the beaches of the Lac du Cavayère (3 miles). Visit the famous Cathar chateaux of Lastours and Saissac (16 miles) while walking towards the black mountain and the medieval city of Minerve (32 miles). Enthusiasts of the history of the Middle Ages can admire the 13th and 15th century timber framed buildings at Mirepoix (22 miles) and the chateau of Montségur, the symbol of Cathar resistance. Visit the vineyards and discover the regions' wines.
Finally, you can be on the beaches of the Mediterranean within an hour or on the ski slopes of the Ariège within two (the nearest ski resort are Mont d'Olmes (90 minutes) and Beille (clear view of the Pyrenean mountains)
Carcassonne is two cities in one separated by the Aude river which flows down from the high Pyrenees. The old "Cite" , which most tourists come to see, dates back to pre-Roman times. It is the most impressively preserved wall city in Europe and has a thriving center of numerous restaurants, hotels and gift shops. The lower town or the "New Town" dates back to the 13th century. It is a Bastide town built as a symbol of the new order with grid-iron streets with central square and defensive walls, and worthy of exploration in itself. You are spoilt for choice in Carcassonne as it offers all the amenities you would expect from for shopping, eating out or recreation.
The beautiful Lac de la Cavayére (also known as Carcassonne Plage) is a 15 minute drive away and with its beach and surrounding woods is a perfect spot for walking, cycling, a picnic or BBQ. This 18 hectare expanse of water is home to an abundance of wildlife and fish. The designated swimming areas are supervised by qualified life guards during the high season, and there are special roped areas for young children and less confident swimmers. Boats can also be hired. It takes about 1 hour to enjoy a walk around the lake.
You are spoilt for choice in Carcassonne as it offers all the amenities you would expect from a large city for shopping, eating out or recreation.
Carcassonne has a general market on Tuesday and Thursday with a large market in the main square on Saturday morning.
No matter what time of year you visit Carcassonne, there’s always something to do. Highlights from the year-round list of events include:
* Jazz Week – Beginning of April
* Carcassonne Festival - July, August
* The Cité Médiévale Set Ablaze - 14 July
* Carcassonne celebrates Southern cultures (from 19 to 22 August)

"Can't wait to return next Summer!"
First of all, I am a seasoned traveller and would choose a self-contained apartment over a hotel any day. Always one to do a bit of research beforehand, I checked the hotel situ out of curiosity and t… More

To start with the positives. The booking process was straightforward and Tielia was very helpful in supplying directions and details about how to find the apartment and the best places to park. She … More
Unfortunately equally disappointing guests. They booked our accomodation which is clearly illustrated in the listing. They did not mention any problems at all, during or after the booking. They damaged the bed, stained the floor tiles & bedlinen with wine and food, as mentioned broke the toilet seat. Generally disrepected the accomodation.
We make every effort to cater to our clients requests and needs, feedback from our previous clientelle hopefully reflects the actual quality of service and the accomodation.
We have been very fortuante with our clients, we hope to welcome more visitors who appreciate Ciel Bleu for the qualities it has rather that dismissing it for the luxuries it does not claim to have.

"Lovely apartment, Excellent location."
We enjoyed our stay at Apartment Ciel Bleu in Place Carnot immensely. We received a very friendly welcome from Tiela. The apartment had a very central location in Carcassonne. It had a wonderful old world atmosphere with every modern amenity including Wi Fi and was spotlessly clean. Carcassonne itself is a great holiday location. We enjoyed a trip to the old town, a trip on the Canal du Midi,a train journey to Limoux and Quillan, lovely shops, restaurants, bars, museums and galleries. We especially enjoyed the colourful market in Place Carnot and the covered market in the next street.

"Cheap and cheerful..."
I found myself in Carcassonne for one month as part of a research trip. For those of you who have never visited, my advice is do. It is a beautiful and historic little town with plenty to do for all ages. Anyway the matter at hand, this property is in the centre of the town (literally). It couldn't be better placed, there is a wonderful market three times a week at the doorstep (literally). The property is on the the top floor, which after a few drinks (in the great wee Irish bar on the next street) was giggle, I have the bruises to prove how fun it was! I used the property more as a base camp from which I could do my research, this is what this property is best for. If you want a garden and to spend your days indoors this is not for you. If you want to experience Carcassonne day and night, this is an excellent little bolt-hole.
The hostess was very accommodating and even collected me from the airport, which was a pleasant surprise. All in all great value and a great experience. Viva la Ciel Bleu!

"excellent ambience, charming interiors and ideal location within the city"
The property is in an ideal central location for all opportunities. The apartment seems to have been renovated with very interesting ecletic ,original, comfortable features and interiors. The property has a wonderful ambience situated with the late18th century building with a seclusion after many sightseeing and active days. To be able to walk straight into the shopping and market areas was a bonus and we never tired of walking throught he town to return to the apartment. Whilst we accept the apartment was hired for mainly outdoors activity stay, we found the the space extremely suitable and an enjoyable experience.
