Le Puget is a lovely 55 acre farming estate in the rolling foothills of the Pyrenees. It is a haven of peace, tranquility, comfort and seclusion. We offer stylish and comfortable accommodation for between 2 and 16 people. .

The charming open courtyard built in local golden stone is the heart of the Domaine. A big old barn has been converted into comfortable and generous accommodation, with six en suite bedrooms, large living and dining rooms, a grand kitchen, and a big private sunny terrace with gorgeous views over the valley and up the oak woods above our land and across to the 12thC village on the next hill. Groups of up to 12 can take the barn alone.

Up to 4 further guests can take the farmhouse a few steps away across the courtyard, which has a double and a twin room, a generous family shower room in oak, and its own living room, kitchen and garden.

Le Puget combines traditional French style of tiled or wooden floors, big beams, and open fire places with our own more modern uncluttered style. Outside, there are terraces and gardens, an orchard, a 10m solar heated swimming pool in its own walled garden, and 55 acres of our own land and a small lake to explore. We have no immediate neighbours apart from the small Chateau next door.

We can offer you gourmet dining on site using local produce, perhaps cooked in our wood fired bread oven and served on the terrace or in the courtyard. We can also offer you additional housekeeping, and arrange treats like bike hire, horse riding, massages, and fitness assessments. We can also talk you through the local area and its delights.

The Languedoc-Roussillon region

One of the delights of the region is the wide range of sites and activities within about an hour in any direction. To the east is the two thousand year old Citadel of Carcassonne, the wine country of Corbieres and the Roussillon, small cities like Beziers and Narbonne, and beyond them the long hot beaches of the Med and its pretty coastal towns. South are the Pyrenees and the amazing Cathar castles, abbeys, and hill top towns, Andorra and the high mountains with winter skiing and summer hiking. West is the sophisticated city of Toulouse, or the ancient cave paintings along the river Ariege, where summer kayaking is a restful pleasure. North, cross the Canal du Midi to reach the Montaigne Noire, Albi and Castres, and the broad plains of the Lauragais region. Revel's Saturday market has been described by a Michelin chef as the best in the world. There are three World Heritage Sites within easy reach. Summers are long and hot, although rarely humid, and spring and autumn are delightful. Every town has its own festival, and world famous ones throughout the summer in Carcassonne and the ancient and unusual Limoux festival in the winter months.

This is an area of grand sites and big views, few people, quiet roads and open country, pretty town and villages, all steeped in history. Ancient cave dwellers, the Romans, Visigoths, and the 12thC Cathars, have all left their mark. We are on the same latitude as Siena and the hills and pencil pines are reminiscent of Tuscany. There are local lakes and rivers to picnic, swim, go boating or riding by.

Our local town, Mirepoix, is one of the most lovely and ancient town squares in France and has a wonderful Monday morning market and some sort of event or festival almost every week in the summer.

The Domaine itself is 300 metres up into the rolling foothills of the Pyrenees. You can walk or cycle from the door for miles through our land and the oak woods that surround us, with huge views of the mountains.
