Home description

The house is spacious, very light and well presented with a HEATED pool and games room with pool and table tennis table. There is a fully equipped kitchen, large living room with patio doors opening onto balcony with views of the castle walls. It is ideally located for visiting this world renowned UNESCO heritage site or for walking and cycling in the local area by the Canal du Midi or River Aude or to the Lac de Cavayere. A top class golf course is close by, and the beaches of the Mediterranean can be reached in less than an hour. Ideal in winter or summer with heating, cleaning and bed linen/towels included in rental.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region

The Aude region of the Languedoc Roussillon is diverse with the Pyrenees to the east the Black Mountains to the North and the Mediterannean coast to the south. Carcassonne is world renown for its medieval castle hosting many musical and artistic events and spectacular firework displays on 14th July and Christmas day. Its lower town is full of atmosphere with the Aude river running through it as well as the port on the Canal du Midi. Here you will find shops, bars and restaurants to suit all tastes.

The whole area is ideal for walking, golfing enthusiasts will find an excellent course just outside the town and the Lac de Cavayere, again close by is good for boating and swimming or just sunbathing.

The Bastide St Louis with excellent shops and Place Carnot with cafes, restaurants and markets, also art museum, cathedral and churches - Information on the town and its attractions can be found on www.carcassonne.fr website.
Places to visit include Limoux, Alet les Baines, Quillan in the foothills of the Pyrenees by train or car or
visit the seaside at Narbonne Plage (under an hour by car)
Canal du Midi - another UNESCO World Heritage Site with boat trips available or walk or cycle along the towpath
River Aude - trails for walking or cycling
Lac de Cavayere - large lake with watersports, beaches also ideal for walking, cycling around
Pech Mary - a short walk from the house with its arboretum and Cite des Oiseaux

How to get there

Ryanair flies to Carcassonne from Dublin, Shannon, Liverpool, East Midlands and London Stansted
BA or BMI to Toulouse, Perpignan

LDV Lines to Le Havre, P&O etc to Calais and Norfolklines to Dunkerque - approx 11 hours driving from Channel Ports along good motorways. House a few minutes from Jnc 24 of the A61 motorway.
The TGV from Paris to Toulouse or Perpignan is a good alternative

You can book the property with a deposit of 25% of the total rental fee, the balance will be required 8 weeks before the commencement of the holiday. A £100.00 refundable breakage deposit is also due at this time
