In a picturesque, peaceful setting at the foot of the castle in Pomas, this airy apartment, one of 2 the same size, is ideal for a couple and 2 children. The characterful house is set in a large, mature garden planted with nut and fruit trees and has an attractive, shared, HEATED, swimming pool. This is a great place to enjoy lazy days in the garden and beside the pool.
The apartment has been decorated in warm colours with a nice mix of old and new furniture, making it warm and welcoming. There are 2 bedrooms: one with a double bed, the other with good quality bunk-beds for 2 children. There is a bathroom with a separate WC. The sitting area has a sofa, armchairs, lamps, a TV and a dining table and chairs.
It's just a short walk into the pretty viillage of Pomas where you'll find a butcher's, a baker's, a grocer's and a post office. Next door to the apartment you can buy 'Blanquette de Limoux', the local sparkling white wine, just right for your pre-dinner aperitif!! Pomas is only 10 minutes by car South of Carcassonne, famous for its medieval city, and only 10 minutes North of Limoux, renowned for its sparkling wine and festival. The Mediterranean beaches are about 40 minutes away by motorway, and the mountains about a 45 minute drive.

The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region
This part of the Languedoc has a sunny Mediterranean climate. It can be hot in summer, but the temperature is often tempered by a breeze. Now the 3rd most visited region in France by British people, the Languedoc offers something for everyone. Miles of long, sandy beaches, coastal lagoons, vibrant cities such as Narbonne and Montpellier, historical sites such as Carcassonne and the Cathar castles, fabulous scenery, great cuisine and vineyards, vineyards, vineyards.
Carcassonne / Pomas area
The local village, Pomas, is just a 5-minute walk. It is picturesque with narrow streets and has a bar and general shops for day-to-day needs. The nearest towns are Carcassonne and Limoux, both a 10-15 minute drive away.
It's a great location here not only for sun-bathing and swimming, but for touring and sight-seeing too. Nearby there's the possibility of horse-riding, climbing, walking, mountain-biking, cycling, canoeing and kayaking. The owners who live on-site speak good English and will advise you on where to go and what to see.
Great days out are possible from Pomas - The beautiful medieval city of Carcassonne is only a 10-15 minute drive as is Limoux. Both cities are well worth a visit. It's a 40-45 minute drive to both the Mediterranean beaches and the mountains. You can discover the Cathar Castles and 'Holy Grail' fans can visit Rennes-le-Chateau. Or you can simply take a trip around the local vineyards and try some wine-tasting (but do decide who is driving first!).
You'll find very good, colourful markets selling local produce in both Carcassonne and Limoux and this is where you'll find the supermarkets too. The nearest restaurant is in nearby Preixan, but there is a wide choice in Carcassonne and Limoux.
How to get there
The village of Pomas is just South of Carcassonne. The nearest motorway junction is No 23 (Carcassonne West) on the A61 Autoroute des Deux Mers.

Further details indoors: One of the apartments is on the ground floor level, and the other on the 1st floor level.
The living/dining area and kitchen are all open plan, making for very sociable living. The kitchen is well equipped and a microwave can be provided on request should you need one. You can connect to the Internet here using a WiFi connection. The apartment is simply, but nicely furnished.
The washing machine is in a communal area for your use. An iron and ironing board are available on request.
Further details outdoors: There is a lovely mature garden for you to enjoy - each apartment has its own specific outdoor table and chairs so you can enjoy al fresco dining in this attractive setting. The pool area is well maintained and has sun-loungers you can use. The pool itself is 5m x 11m and is HEATED from 1st June to the end of September. Please note that the swimming pool may not be open in other months - please enquire if this is important to you.
There is a barbeque which may be shared with other residents.

Towels and bed-linen are included in the rental cost. Winter-heating is not included and is €50 per week, payable direct to the owners.
One machine wash per week is included in the rental cost. The owners make a small charge of €5 per extra wash.
You have the option to clean the apartment yourselves at the end of your holiday. If you wish the owners to arrange the cleaning for you the cost is €30.
The owner requests a damage deposit of €250 on arrival, which is returned to you at the end of your stay less the replacement cost of any breakages.
Pool opening hours are 10.30am - 1.30pm, and 3.30pm to 6.30pm. The pool is closed for maintenance on a Saturday but is open from 4.30pm to 6.30pm for new arrivals.
