Rented out since 2004 and rated Excellent by Tripadvisor the Old French Bakery is the perfect place to get away from it all, offering character, quality, charm and comfort.
With its’ terracotta tiled floors, beamed ceilings, 3 spacious bedrooms, fully equipped kitchen and luxurious bathroom, it truly is a home from home. Tiled floors on the ground floor and stripped wood floors on the first floor give a lovely feel to the property.
The thick stone walls ensure the Old Bakery remains cool inside even in the height of summer!

The original baker’s oven gives a unique backdrop to the sitting and dining room. A large open plan room with wonderful terracotta tiles there are two large comfy sofas, one of which is a sofa bed, and a dining table and chairs to seat 8.
We provide BBC TV, DVD player and extensive DVD library, Radio and CD player, board games and English books. You will also find lots of information on where to go and what to see in the area.

Set against the backdrop of the Pyrenees the surrounding area is reminiscent of Tuscany with rolling hills, cypresses and a stunning display of sunflowers.
A large terrace at the rear offers fabulous views. Whilst your dinner cooks on the BBQ, relax and enjoy the setting whilst sipping a glass of local wine.
If you choose to take a day off from exploring the area, there are a couple of sun loungers where you can top up your tan.
The Languedoc-Roussillon / Aude region
For foodie and wine fans it’s heaven; foie gras, cassoulet, confit de canard, local vineyards of the Malepere, Corbieres, Minvervois and Fitou are all within easy reach. This region has also proved popular with top UK chefs…
Stroll along the Canal du Midi and follow in the footsteps of Rick Stein, whose French Odessy took him along the Canal through Castelnaudary and Carcassonne. Jamie Oliver filmed in the area for his prorgam Jamie does the French Pyrenees shown on on Channel 4 in August 2010. Plaigne is on the border of the Languedoc and Midi-Pyrenees.
All the calories can be shed by the abundance of walking, riding and cycling available. The house has many walking books and maps. Swimming, sailing, windsurfing and fishing can be enjoyed on nearby lakes or at the Mediterranean.
For culture vultures why not visit the nearby historic and medieval towns of Castelnaudary, Foix, Fanjeaux and Mirepoix? Or if you’re energetic follow in the footsteps of the Cathars and visit their castles. The mediterranian coast offers many varied and beautiful ports, including Collieures; Matisse, Picasso and Friesz all painted here because of the amazing light in the South of France.

The property is centrally heated and rental includes all utilities, bed linen, bath towels and a welcome gift. During the winter months there is an additional charge for central heating of £5 per day
Children’s cot and high chair are available on request.
Rental days are flexible. Arrival 16:00 hrs, departure 10: hrs to allow for cleaning.
Deposit of 25% or minimum £100 is requested at time of booking with balance due 8 weeks prior to arrival. A returnable deposit of £100 against breakages/damages is also required.
